Ospreys are fierce and we have many . Let us be sensitive to our Native American neighbors especially at this time!

Class of 2011. Quite simply, this mascot is a disgrace and a disservice to our town.

Graduated class of ‘17. Always have wanted to see this shamefully outdated mascot changed.

Not that I do t support this petition, in fact I signed it. It is right to support equality and to demote discrimination, but attacking people who don’t have the same view as you and are not causing any harm is pointless and also not your place. Most of you are not a Native American, not that demoted your opinion in the matter, but it does stand to the fact that you aggressive supporters are mainly either bored housewives looking for something to do, obsessively-politically-correct students, or students looking for a good merit on your college applications. Again, I do support the change entirely, but not the bullies attacking people with a different point of view. Just because the pen is not a sword does not mean it can hurt (people) too.

When we moved to Guilford I was surprised to learn that the high school mascot is an Indian. Don't we know better by now?

Our country and school does not honor indigenous peoples for their rich knowledge and strength. Having a mascot with the name “Indian” does not demonstrate honor.

The people who are not signing this are part of the larger problem of not supporting equality and justice. We have failed to education them.

even though i don’t go to ghs, i live in guilford and it’s honestly embarrassing to tell people at my school that guilford’s mascot is the Indians. the mascot only changed to the Indians in 1944, because we were the Rams before that.

Class of 2011. I was in theatre and PF and I used to play wreck soccer. I love where I'm from and I love being a GHS graduate, but I am so embarrassed our mascot is still a Native American.
