As the parent of a child with a cleft who had all of this necessary medical care provided FREE 100% in the UK and knowing what a trauma the whole family goes through watching their child suffer over a long period of time I absolutely am behind this petition . I am so thankful that tax payers in the UK funded my daughters surgery in the NHS via a wonderful and free health service fought hard for by my predecessors. I never take that for granted and will always be eternally grateful . No child should not have access to this treatment . No parent should have to fight for it . There’s enough resources to share especially in first world countries . Pay tax, use it for good things like this . Come on world you can be less selfish ....you can do it if you want to.

I agree that Texas should require insurance companies to cover cleft lip and cleft palate medical expenses. It should not be classified as cosmetic.

My treatment for my cleft lip included orthodontics and speach. It was not a cosmetic issue, it was a corrective necessity of my birth defect. I had missing teeth and misplaced teeth. This should be a covered service

I am the mother of a child born with cleft lip and palate in Florida. I very much believe insurance companies should cover medically necessary procedures including orthodontia for children born with clefts!

These are MEDICAL expenses that are incurred because of CONGENITAL issues. All surgeries and treatment, including orthodontic treatment, should ABSOLUTELY be covered! Wouldn't you want your child to have a normal life too?
