Change Texas Cleft Law

Texas law should be changed to require coverage of cleft related medical care. I am the mother of a cleft affected child. Since, moving to Texas I have been disturbed and burdened by this.

All children should have the right to medical care

Cleft Palite is not a cosmetic surgery like some people think. It’s a medical and needed surgery.

These children deserve full coverage

We've had several issues with insurance as well, especially for my son's tooth extractions; they continue to want to claim that tooth extractions (necessary for the cleft plan, and some have to be done under general anesthesia depending on where the tooth is) are not medically necessary.

Texas should cover anything for these patients

These kids were born with this and need ins to cover all expenses it takes to fix it.

Insurance should cover everything affected by cleft lip and cleft pallet

I too have a cleft lip and palate son who is 10.

Families with children with this condition need and deserve coverage to address it in the most effective way possible, and it is an investment in a healthy and productive life.

My daughter was born with a cleft lip and palate. She has had 26 surgeries and we are thousands behind in medical debt. Her first surgery was not covered by insurance because it was “cosmetic”, this surgery was for her lip repair and it cost us 70,000.

My nephew was born with a cleft lip and palate. Over the years, he has had numerous surgeries because as the body grows, there is a need for more surgery. There is no way a family without insurance coverage could bear those expenses! Insurance should cover the entire person, not just what it chooses to cover. Our children deserve coverage not only for their own self esteem but medically, it makes eating and other things more difficult.

Please pass this necessary law to ensure that these children receive the coverage they need!

Why don’t these insurance companies just act like these kids can help it.

These children deserve good quality of life, mentally AND physically, this IS A NECESSITY!
