These babies and kids need these surgeries and so much more. Shame on the insurances that denies these babies and kids the ability to eat properly and have healthy lives. We keep being told that we as parents are to feed our kids healthy food but without these surgeries what are we to do? Send their food through food processers so they can eat it without worrying about them choking? Again shame on the insurance companies doing this. Change your policies when it comes to kids that needs special things.

Cleft palette is not a cosmetic surgery.

California pats for everything. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger made sure of this. Write to your politicians in your state!

No insurance company should be able to deny coverage for required medical conditions...this is required.

I support this and it’s so necessary.

If the law does not currently include all therapies, treatments, and orthodontics, then that law absolutely needs to change. My son was born with cleft lip and palate, luckily we live in one of the nine states that require insurance to cover repairs, treatments, therapies, as well as orthodontics. These are all things that a cleft effected person needs in order to maintain quality of life. Let's not forget how important oral cafe is, as the eyes, ears, nose, and throat are all connected. Not having the proper repairs and treatments covered subjects the patient to more risk, and none of us want that. Change the law. No person of family should have to fight to get the treatment that is necessary.

Orthodontics is medically necessary to manage this congenital anomaly properly. Should be covered through medical insurance.

All children should have the right to medical care and to look and feel "normal".

This should be a federal mandate.

Please change the Texas law to require insurance companies to pay for proper medical treatment for cleft lip and palate. Families should not have to fight insurance companies to cover the necessary treatments.
