I was also born with a bilateral cleft lip and pallet and I had to get braces twice. I don't think my dad's insurance covered that also.

Grateful to live in Michigan where Children's Special Healthcare covers orthadontia because most companies dont provide it with their insurance plans anymore and it is so expensive!!

Insurance should cover everything for these kiddos! It’s needed. I know. My son was born with cleft lip and palatte as well. He’s had 8 surgeries and is only 5. Pass the law!

A law change is needed to help so many families through these surgeries that are necessary.

My son was born with a cleft, but luckily we are in a state that covers the necessities regarding such. I believe every state should be on the same page when it comes to clefts and insurance coverage.

My son was born with a cleft lip and bilateral cleft palate as well. He is only 1 but i know down the road he will need lots of dental work and other procedures. I completely agree with insurance should cover these needs

It is appalling that such necessity surgeries have to be fought for.

My two kids are cleft and palate. We need care for them like the insurance company could pay for expenses that the normal working family can not afford.

My cleft-affected grandson deserves better than what his family has had to endure over the past 11 years and 12 surgeries.

My 4 year old was born with a cleft lip and palate. This would be great, considering what surgeries are in his future are still unknown.

Cover all expenses... nothing about cleft related surgeries or cleft related orthodontics is "cosmetic." it's all necessary
