Change Stamford Board of Education Field Allocation Policy

For profit organizations should not benefit from our facilities. It's a bad way for the City to rase revenue.

Dear Board of Education members, Please update your field allocation policy to meet the needs of the general public and keep in sync with the Recreation Department's current allocation policy. As you know, times are hard for everyone except big business. By accepting this money is only making a statement that even the Board of Education really don't care about the kids. How should we feel come voting time? We are fighting everyday to politicians from closing schools. Why can't you keep the kids on the fields and keep this door closed. We all know that once Big Business get an inch they will take a yard.

I feel that our fields should not be in contention with the highest bidder. These are fields supported by Stamford tax dollars and should support Stamford players and the youth organizations.

Please don't allow for profit business to use our city fields.

This would be awful, if this happened to the Stamford Children in not giving them a chance to play sports.

As a player, referee, and coach of the SYSL for 15 years, this is terrible news. Stamford has put in so much effort to make our fields beautiful, accessible, and fun for everyone. To see that this is in jeopardy and that our youth sports may suffer is absolutely heartbreaking. Many parents struggle enough already with the little fees there currently are, imagine the fees that would be set in place if our fields would be turned into 'for profit'. So many children would miss out on the wonderful youth sports and organizations that Stamford has created. Please reconsider.

It would be a "very sad" day in history, if our children and grandchildren could not have the chance to play sports at our Stamford fields.

I find it outrageous that Stamford would consider this. As iris we have very noticeable income inequality inFairfield County If you want to see the socioeconomic differences evident come visit our public schools. Where is ourMayors voice in this?

Let's keep the sports teams the way they are

It is currently hard enough to to get appropriate practice time with the number of people using the fields. This would only get worse with the extra use of the fields never mind extra wear and tear of these fields.

As a youth coach for the past 15 years I ask you to please consider our petition in the way it is presented to protect all the youth of Stamford and their opportunity to participate in sports, Thank you. Peter Lombardo

I support SY Sports, don't lease out fields! We pay taxes for the fields. They don't. They have the money, they should build theirs.

As a taxpayer I want the fields in Stamford to be made available for my kids through the non profit leagues

Stamford fields should be used for Stamford residents! Chelsea Piers has field but they rent them out to make money...

I cannot afford the fee for 'for profit' soccer. I pay 1000s in taxes. My kids deserve access to the BOE facilities. I should not be paying more.

Enough...keep the athletic fields for the non-profits...if Chelsea Piers or any other elite entity wants to rent a field let them rent a private field and stay off tax funded facilities.

This is not the area in witch to cut. Our children are in desperate need to put down their electronics and get out to do some exercise, socialization, obesity prevention, health prevention and most of all to let this new generation know that we care. Please don't take this away. You have seen the benefit and positive impact it had had on children from ALL socioeconomic , ability, non-ability, etc over the years - let's continue !

Protect Stamford tax payer's kids

Keep the Stamford school fields for our kids
