Change Stamford Board of Education Field Allocation Policy

The children should not be affected by the need to find money. All you will be doing is having less children playing sports because of the rising costs. Don't we want our children to enjoy sports and have that opportunity? Find another way to supplement.

Leave it to Stamford to try and take more away from our children and put more of a strain on tax paying families.

Keep the fields for non profits

I am born, raised, and still reside in Stamford. Played little league at Northrop for years, youth hockey, and soccer. Now I am coaching my children, daughters softball team, and sons little league team's. To see the joy on their faces when they make that great play, or get a good hit, is priceless. To essentially take that opportunity away from a some kids would be absolutely disgusting. Just as big business puts the mom and pop stores out of buissnes, its going to happen here.

Don't charge our kids. We pay enough taxes so our children can play.

Charging non profits for field use will only raise registration fees and drive more kids away from youth sports!!

Field availability for free makes Little League possible for our family!

Save our fields . Keep the cost down so the kids have a place to play and they are outside and not in the house in front of the TV. Parents won't be able to afford the cost if you increase the cost of the field. Keep the kids in sports. Children are over weight and not active enough. Why would you do this to our children of our community.

I can't even believe this is even a possibility and we have to sign a petition to hopefully prevent non-profit organizations from paying field fees. Is it really worth it to alienate the citizens of Stamford for what can't possibly be any kind of monetary windfall by charging for field time and shutting out the non-profits and discouraging participation in organized sports that can only encourage the chldlren and teenagers of Stamford to channel their energy in to something positive like team sports. Not to mention I have seen the non profit Stamford sports teams care of the fields with all their heart all year round with no compensation. Try getting that kind of care and dedication from outside for profit teams. Stamford will wind up just havknh to use the money for maintenance anyway.

As a lifelong resident of Stamford, I oppose paying to use the fields for non-profit organizations. We need to offer affordable activities such as little league for the youth. Choosing to have us pay a fee will only make the use of the fields for the elite.

This is a travesty this is even being considered

Stamford youth sports programs are currently lacking space to play.. if any of these fields are no longer available for use (by the city programs), many youths will have nowhere else to host their activities. It's critical for the health and well being of our children to keep these fields readily available. As a tax paying citizen of Stamford, I support keeping intact the current field allocation policy and not permitting for-profit businesses to compete for space with the aforementioned non-profit programs. Thank you.

Keep Stamford Rec sports cheap for children. I'm a member of Chelsea Piers but I wouldn't want my 3 children from playing with all Stamford children, not just wealthy children.

No to for-profit businesses to use Stamford Board of Education fields

i play on these fields and they are all I have when it comes to playing the sport I love.

i play on these fields and they are my life, without them I wouldn't be able to do what I love, play soccer. This is an unfair policy and should not be passed

I am a long-time soccer player and resident of Stamford. My family and I strongly support this petition.

I'd like to add that we have a history in Stamford of working very hard to make sure there are opportunities for recreational, organized sports for all ages and all residents of the community. This is part of what has made Stamford a special place and special community. If we start letting corporations and big organizations push residents from the fields for Soccer, Football, Softball, Baseball and the like then Stamford loses as a City and a community that has opportunity for the kids to participate in sports from the earliest ages and learn the rules, gain the skills of those particular sports and from those sports and organizations develop the skills necessary to succeed in life through discipline, fairness and a system that lets all children participate that want to participate. If we let Corporations "own" our fields and determine who does and who does not have access and who does and who does not play, then what exactly are we teaching our children? As a taxpayer, business owner, employer and long time Stamford Resident, it saddens me that this is even considered to allow Corporations start taking over and using public fields. It is shameful if that should happen. We have already significantly limited access to fields that are OURS as residents and taxpayers. Corporations should not trump the rights of the children, their parents and other adult athletes that are taxpayers. We, the citizens, the residents of Stamford from the children (all the children) through the adults should have right of FIRST ACCESS to all Stamford Fields. Our many organizations in Stamford have worked well with each other and hand in hand to support all our programs. I can assure you Corporations will only have their bottom line and their interests at heart, not those of the Residents of the City of Stamford.
