I could not have been educated or more ready for the world of architecture should I have gone elsewhere. I have continued to use those skills in my work, hace established my own small practice and been a mentor to many students. Change is inevitable, but as this petition states, ignoring proven tradition for the sake of change is irresponsible, and seems to be more ego centered than community centered.
There hasn't been a year since I have graduated that Virginia Tech's program hasn't been recognized as a standout, yet it appears radical change is on horizon. This seems foolish, and I am hesitant to see how this will change the quality of the students entering our profession.
