These thugs have intentionally beaten a man to an inch of his life and caused serious harm and suffering to the family. They have probably hurt people before and will do again in the future. This punishment does not reflect to suffering caused to the family. Maybe they should be forced to live like the victim. When will life be properly protected and valued. These scum will have to answer to the lord. Our society won't punish them appropriately which generally means the population isn't safe from these type of thugs, and victims and their families, are the real innocent loosers. Mrs Dobbin has showed incredible strength and dignity throughout. I will pray for you and I wish you a safe, healthy and happy future.

Not only has Simon's quality of life been terminated but his incredible wife is now in a situation that she could never have envisaged. Certainly time to protiect the victim and their cares/family and to send a deterrent message to other thugs.

I understand that a sentence longer than 4 months is automatically halved in which case 2-1/2 years would only be served for a 5 year sentence which reduces the maximum of 5 years to only 2-1/2. This poor couple have a life sentence which is grossly unfair.

They were all complicit in this attack. Let them suffer as Simon is now suffering. Take away all their privileges for a MINIMUM of 10 years and give them a lifetime ban on attending any football matches.

Punishment fits the crime. Your husband has a life sentence therefore his perpetrators should have the same. Good luck with your quest!!

These thugs should have been charged with attempted murder and received sentences accordingly. 15 years would seem more just.

Extreamly disturbed how thugs who ruined this poor father and husband life can continue their normal life after a short sentence. What message does this send out!! Increase sentences to minimum 15 years each. Protect the public from people like this for once.

As a nation (and notwithstanding the complexities of the law) we are too lenient on those who cause life changing injuries.
