My heart goes out to Simon and his family. People who commit these crimes should be.made to pay and take responsibility for their actions. Sentances are too light. The people responsible should also be made to do community service looking after people like Simon. So sad.

The sentencing of people who take away the quality of life for other people such as poor Simon Dobbin this is way too lenient. Why should an innocent victim suffer permanently whilst they get away so lightly?!

The law yet again fails to provide a deterrent! Failure to take action will lead to more horrendous crimes such as this being committed. Innocent law abiding people MUST be given protection. Financial penalties lasting a lifetime and much longer prison sentences would be appropriate.

Absolutely disgusting how society values victims of violence. I hope this petition achieves its aims in changing the law in England & Wales.

Change the sentencing. Think there man enough to commit such a horrible crime, they should be man enough to do their time

Absolutely shocking! These thugs should be sentenced to life. Regardless to who did or did not do this they all were as guilty as each other looking to cause injury and harm. God bless the Dobbin family

I wholeheartedly support this cause, believing that the sentences imposed are far too lenient.

The time served needs to be higher imagine if he had died would they be serving life or will they only serve five years.

Heartbreaking to read this. The law is too lenient.

These thugs were not given a jail sentence proportionate to the crime they committed! The law needs to change!

Awful that most of the scum who did this to Simon are out free.

Violent offenders need much longer prison sentences. (With hard labour).

I attended the DIY SOS project and after meeting the family and seeing the difference this have made to their life's, 16 months is not enough.
