I strongly agree that the sentence should be increased to minimum 10 years. These thugs will probably be out before their sentence is finished anyway. This must be changed to attempted murder. Good luck Nicole

This is utterly devastating for Simon an his family , these thugs and disgusting inhuman lowlifes should be hung for this . His wife what a lady seeing it on the new tonight she still is smiling . Such a terrible nightmare for them . Our laws need changing thugs that do this to innocent people should be killed .

These people should be held accountable for their actions and the actions of,the people they are with, regardless of their level of participation. The sentence should be at leas ten, and for all of those involved.

Horrendous that normal people are unable to go about their day to day leisure activities and family life. I've seen your story on line and can't understand how those thugs can get away with such a minimal sentence. I wish you and your family peace , love and a happy future

The sentence for these thugs is absolutely deplorable. We are unfortunately living within a 'Nanny State'. It's about time that governments woke up and, when in prison, prisoners are required to work and aim towards a purpose in life when they are finally released.

Totally support this petition - as the attackers kicked Simon in the head, this should be treated as attempted murder. Their purpose was to cause him harm and the results were life changing for both Simon and family - the sentence should reflect this accordingly

It should not mater what charge is used - if the offence is as horrific as this extra sentencing should be possible. The jury should be asked to deter,mine the level of punishments justified. And this lot should have been sent down for decades, not months.
