5 years is not a deterrent. Violent public disorder sentencing should be increased to at least 10 years, if not more, right now.

Increase the maximum sentence and get rid of halving awarded sentences for good behavior. Ten years must mean ten years!

A life sentence for the victim and his wife. It needs to reflect in the length of the prison sentence given. There must be a recognition of the brutality of the offence.

Cowards like these need to know that if they harm innocent people like Simon, they will be put away for a very long time. LIFE in prison should be the sentence in these cases......that's what they've done to Simon -a life sentence !!!!!

They were cowards even in court , refusing to give evidence , Simon and his family deserve justice . 5 years for what was attempted murder , where is the justice , I hope they have a rough time , and that justice is meted out some day . No one should have to go to a football match at any level , and end up like Simon did , love sport , hate violence . Thougher sentences Mrs May please

The public should be adequately protected from Individuals who have limited or no regard for people and the quality life. The limited sentencing powers for these acts of unprovoked violence fails to deliver a reasonable level of protection for the public or sufficient deterrent for those who perpetrate such violent acts. Without change the mindless brutal events that resulted in the dreadful injury to Simon Dobbin are sure to be repeated, it’s time the law was changed.

the sentence given to these culprits was a disgrace. they need a life sentence just like they have taken this mans life.

Tougher sentences are needed. When 12 cowards attack 2 men they should be given the full force of the law and more. These people should have been given manslaughter charges in the first place. They are utterly despicable. I just hope no one else suffers an experience like this.

10 years minimum preferably life in this instance. It just isn't fair 16 months to 5 years is ridiculous

If not for the medical services Simon would not have survived. His attackers should have been sentenced in accordance with attempted murder.
