We're in the midst of a pandemic, there should be no reason why they should make things harder for students.

I agree with all the statements . i would like to bring attention to the action of the university using a web cam to record students during exams then saving that recording for the professor to access it whenever and more importantly professors do not have student constant is unethical and a invasion of our privacy and most importantly a violation of the UAE federal law. according to Article 378 of Federal Law No.(3) of 1987 of the Penal Code as amended by Federal Law No. 34 of 2005 this action is punishable by jail time and fines.

This is an invasion of privacy at home.
Also some students dont have webcams and some are not comfortable in being recorded.
Some have poor wifi connection,
They dont have their own private room.
This is not a way to do a final exam, if anything just cancel and make it a research final paper. This is not OKAY on so many levels. It is INAPPROPRIATE. And I personally think that the person that came up with this idea, should sit down and think about other students home situations and their morality about them being infront of a camera that is recording every single move that happens in their house. What if a person doesnt have their own room and their sibling / parent whatever it is are on the phone or doing an online class ?

Good afternoon,
To whom it may concern,
This email is regarding the Respondus Lockdown Monitor software. On behalf of my fellow classmates and I, we would like to address some concerns as this software has been implemented with disregard for student circumstances.
We believe that the comfort and privacy of the students during this pandemic have not been taken into consideration. We understand the difficulties faced by this situation, though many universities suspended the monitoring feature of webcam for their student's privacy. There are several other modules for taking an exam online that would satisfy both the student and the instructor.
Some of the concerns students are addressing are the following:
1) Webcams are giving an inside to the household of students which is a complete invasion of privacy as many students cannot adhere to this. This gives an assumption that all students have previously agreed to these circumstances when no notice has been given besides a very overdue email sent at the last minute. It is expected that all students have their own space and privacy to complete these exams when it is impractical to some. Some are in lockdown with their families and have limited space of their own. Hence, not all AUS colleges adhere to this, it's simply impractical.
2) Doubling the weight and the material for midterms is inconsiderate keeping in mind that many of us had to leave the country on very short notice with the mindset of coming back after spring break, leaving behind materials such as textbooks, notes, CAAD tools that are necessary for studying or doing work. A number of professors are misunderstanding the importance of communications with the students as it is a critical time to understand what the process is to move on. Many of the emails received are vague in content and explanation when there has been enough time to give clarity on the process of moving forward. From this, students simply ask that professors to be more specif

Having less time than normal to solve our midterms with no backtracking is honestly very unfair

First class back in online courses and the university is having connectivity issues. It would OUR problem if it happened during a final exam.
