I love the idea!!

This is grossly unfair to the seniors who need additional courses or want to take more advanced courses to be better prepared for their college experience. The idea of the grade for this new required course being less than an honors grade certainly adversely affects on her students who can have there Grade point average reduced. This will give in on Fair this advantage to these hard-working individuals. This financial/well-being course should really be offered as an elective. Or it should be combined into a physical education course for the well-being component and they mathematics course for the financial component.

Well, here are my opinion on the issue. I guess this sounds like a bad idea. Its nice being able to do homework in your free time. And that's class can take potential free time to do homework and to de stress a bit (i guess). The block scheduling may seem good on paper, but in practice: its wont do well. People alternating classes can cause a lot of confusion of where people need to be, as well as people not getting their practice in for the subjects they need. If it ain't broke, dont fix it. The current schedule is very pretty cool and i like it. So why bother doing this new feature for what reason?

This is contrary to the tradition of the school. This will change the students lives and likely decrease college acceptance rates. The faculty is doing a disservice to the students by supporting this plan. They are not helping the students to succeed. They are detracting from the students academic life. They are not helping anyone by doing this. This is highly detrimental to students.

The scheduling was a major change that effects all students at Immaculate. Parents and students that have organized their plan for college were planning on having a free period to assign as a study hall or second academic course for their yearly journey through high school. Senior Seminar interrupts all plans, and with the mandate set on all current Juniors, our plans have been disrupted. Religion is a class we are lucky to have, and as practicing Catholics, we deserve the chance to further our religious knowledge, and that is why it is a justified mandatory class. Senior Seminar is a preparation for college and life after college, a class that's goal is to prepare us for life during and after college. Even though this class has valuable life lessons, many can learn such things from parents or financial advisors. Infringing upon the students ability to take classes they desire to excel in is detrimental. As a student looking to excel in classes regarding science and computer sciences, I need the class slot that would be occupied by the Senior Seminar class. I believe, as a Junior at Immaculate High School, we should be able to decide most of our classss for the final year at Immaculate. Secondly, the block schedule was something that should have been discussed more openly with parents and students, especially since it regards every student's daily schedule. The ability for us to have a class every day allows daily feedback through homework, classwork, and quizzes and tests. Block schedules disrupt the natural way students learn and come to Immaculate. I believe the parents and students should have been at least informed earlier before the deadline for setting up classes was so near. It was impractical, and ignorant to the plans and expectations of all Immaculate contributors. I believe the school should seriously reconsider their choice to implement these changes. I don't believe it's fair to put a last minute graduation requirement on students who are planning their last year in high school . Students knew those requirements in 9th grade and generally have a strategy they follow. You are now taking away their elective choices just as they reach the finish line. This new requirement should be phased in with the new in coming freshman class.

It's ok to take away the gym classes if they make the senior seminar optional and the block schedule doesn't make sense since immaculate has been doing fine for the last 50 years so why change it now? We don't need someone to choose our classes for us we're going to college soon and need to make our independent choices ourselves

This course change is inappropriate and impacts some students negatively. If it is a requirement of the Diocese or State, then the school should find some other way to accomplish this objective. Many parents, myself included, can teach these subjects to our children at home on a "pass/fail" basis (with no impact on overall grade). I, for one, would be open to doing this, administering a test, and signing an affidavit attesting to having covered the material with my daughter.
