I am a 15 year old girl and this is disgraceful! We shouldn't be told what to wear by our schools!

Everyone may wear shorts year round at her school. The tank top rule would also be for all students. My son also signed this petition in hopes of a rule change for his wardrobe as well. I agree that shorts rules are very hard to follow depending on your body type, best of luck with that!

I am so happy to see a young woman take a stand! The focus should be on those who are "distracted", not those who are wearing everyday clothes that are within reason. As a mom of three littles, two of which are boys, I support her!

Boys should also be allowed to wear shorts after Labor Day as girls are allowed to wear dresses. Boys should also be allowed to wear tank tops if girls are. Being tall when I was in school I always got sent home or whatever for my shorts being to short. However several others didn't and they had the same ones on. My booty wasn't hanging out or anything either just didn't pass my fingertips because I had legs for days. This should be changes as well.

You are not the clothes you wear and you should never be made to feel ashamed about what makes you feel comfortable. It's disgusting to me that in 2017, it still makes males/teachers uncomfortable to see your shoulders. I hope this petition really does make them open their eyes.

I agree that that type of top shouldn't be an issue if its sized accordingly to the person wearing it. As someone that knows Kansas heat, at times it can be almost unbearable, by being dressed comfortably, it actually gives you a better ability to learn. As our children grow into young adults we need to help them in any way to promote them being able to learn.

When you interrupt a girls school day to tell her she needs to change her clothes because it is distracting to others, you are telling her that hiding her body is more important than her education. You are telling her that making sure boys have a distraction-free learning environment is more important than her education. If my tank top is distracting them, then that's their problem. Not mine.

I agree that tank tops should be allowed to be worn if they are not low cut in front & cover their stomachs. Boys wear them so I don't see any reason that girls can't. And the active wear should be allowed in gym especially if it's allowed in school!

Girls should not suffer in the heat because a board of people believe that boys cannot handle seeing shoulders. If they can't handle it, that's their problem, and they should be penalized, not the girls.

We are more than a distraction. If a male student /teacher cannot focus due to a shoulder or a thigh being shown, they do not need to be attending/teaching. Teach the girls and women of your district that females are more than sexual objects. They should not be held accountable for the sexuality of another person. As a lesbian, I can focus and control myself just fine around women in shorts and rank tops. Men should be held at the same level of control. We are more than a distraction.
