It is very disheartening for one's child to have to travel over 15km when there is a school just within 2km radius of one's house... Kindly add sub area 8 to the west bedford catchment

We recently moved to the west Bedford neighborhood which is just 1 km away from the school and I have 2 daughters who will be traveling around 13 kms for their assigned schools for this catchment area

West Bedford school is just 1.2 Kms away from us. Since our street was under construction they removed our street from catchment area, because of that my kids are travelling 20 Kms everyday for their present school.

The final catchment plan of Broad Street School needs revision to include the entirety of The Parks of West Bedford neighbourhood! The school's proximity is one of the reasons many purchasers have chosen to move into the community and yet it appears that new purchaser's voices have not been included in the decision making for the catchment boundaries. My son and daughter-in-law and their two children will be moving into the community in the coming months, and one of the criterea in making the decision to purchase there was its close proximity to the new Broad Street School for their children to attend. As their grandparent, I was looking forward to the benefits of having a school close to their home & community. Having children in a community attending the same nearby school helps build friendships amongst the children, has a safety component as the children become more familiar with each other, and thus develops a stronger sense of community. I trust the Halifax Regional Centre for Education will reconsider and revise their catchment boundaries appropriately.

These children will use the same amenities, play in the same neighborhood, be NEIGHBOURS with children they can’t go to school with. Include all of Brookline. Do not politicize this decision.

As a community who was not represented during the feedback session because it was under construction at the time., it’s disappointing that the school will be visible from the community but our children will be bussed elsewhere when our neighbours will be passing our homes to attend the new school. The community will soon have many new residents and voters as construction progresses. Please consider the near future of the community, not just the current state. Thank you.

It is important to do the right thing here, which is to include all of Brookline in the boundary for the new Broad St school. It is simply wrong to divide a community. You have missed the voices of the homes that are under construction. They would literally be able to see the school from their homes and the students would be bused rather than walk. How can this make sense? The voices of these people will eventually be heard thru their votes. Please do the right thing.

That’s for initiating this petition. It is so important that the students in the Community of Brookline be able to attend their neighbourhood school and not be divided.

I support this petition as a home owner in Brookline Bedford. Our children all deserve to attend this new school.

The whole community should be included and no area left out.
