It is unfair to bring back closed-book exams, as they negatively impact our mental and physical health. We would greatly appreciate it if you reconsidered and allowed open-book exams instead.

Most students here are used too an open book examination and it would be a valid reason for you guys to make it an open book examination due to some students getting used to the open book method

We started the course as it was clear to us that it was based on open book assessment. Now when we have nearly come to end of the course, we are being told otherwise. It is unfair to mature and independent students already working on a full time basis to absorb such a drastic change. Decision to choose UOL was purely based on its open assessment which was then attractive to us.

My academic journey, from my first year to my final year, has been characterized by consistent open-book examinations. This format allowed for the assessment of my ability to apply knowledge and utilize resources effectively. The recent transition to closed-book exams represents a fundamental shift in assessment methodology, now focusing primarily on memorization. This late-stage change is significantly affecting my performance and well-being. Consequently, I respectfully request that the original open-book format be reinstated to maintain consistency and align with the established assessment principles.

It’s unfair that I’m left with only one module to complete my LLB, and now the exam format has changed. I chose UOL because of the open-book system, as balancing work and studies is extremely challenging. At the very least, those in their final year should have been allowed to complete their exams under the same conditions they started with.
