Not only do I believe yoga by experienced teachers is not as dangerous as skiing etc, but it is often preventative and rehabilitive

I support this petition. Yoga teaching should not be penalised, rather encouraged.

Yoga doesn't seem to be more dangerous than professional netball, or fire-fighting, so it doesn't seem fair to be paying more ACC

The ACC levy that I pay per year is highway robbery. I pay over $3,000 in ACC levies per year and yet I do not run regular yoga classes in New Zealand. Most of my work is offshore. I have never made an ACC claim for any injury acquired through yoga practice or teaching yoga in 25 years of professional teaching. Nor to my knowledge has any student attending my classes made an ACC claim as a result of being injured in a yoga class. These levies do not reflect that most of us who teach Hatha Yoga offer slow and very gentle forms of exercise. Donna Farhi, author of Teaching Yoga

I would like to see yoga become accepted as a form of therapy for injury rehabilitation in the same bracket as physiotherapy. It would also be good to see the RYT hours help to allow proof of training in this case, to legitimise the teacher.

Not sure how 'yoga instruction' can be be considered to be ask risky as a ski or snowboarding, kickboking or high impact aerobics instructor. ACC you need to review your classifications.

ACC categorizations are meant to be sorted on similarity of work and risk. To lump yoga instructors in with ski, snowboard and kick-boxing instructors obviously misses in this aim.
