Over three times as much ACC tax as a fitness instructor? Come on - there's not a "no pain no gain" manta in yoga - the saying goes if you get injured doing yoga then you weren't doing yoga as the physical practice of yoga calls for a degree of mindfulness that means you get in tune with your body and "listen" to it. This is an integral teaching of yoga. Also, yoga is not a sport, but a way of healing body and mind and overcoming your tendencies and habits.

Please reduce the ACC levy for yoga teaches to a fair and reasonable level such as dance.

We must change this ACC classification - it is ill-informed and crazy beaurocracy. I fully support this petition and appalud the effort it takes to change ACC.

Yoga is a spiritual practice, a way of being. Not one aspect of it reflects the genre of 'sport'!

Definitely should be in the same category as ballet and dance. Not a high risk sport.

I believe that ACC should do more research into where Yoga Teaching best fits as a category. I believe that Yoga Teachers should fit in the dance and ballet teachers or personal health and fitness categories. Many thanks

ACC shoidl use some of their data to make an evidence-based decision to lower the ACC levy for yoga teachers - it is yoga not martial arts folks !!

yoga properly taught has actually prevented serious injury to me and my recovery is quicker. In no way should yoga teachers have a higher rating than firefighters ! , absurb

As a health care provider and and yoga student I can't recall seeing a yoga injury, but every weekend I see streams of people injured from their sports or from poor lifting technique.

I've been doing yoga for 10 years there is unequivocally no comparison with yoga and snow sports and/or the dangers involved in rock quarries.

Is it posible the industry classification simply was the lazy way forward. A default inclusion rather than specific review of the real risks and criteria for inclusion in the current category CU84500.

Yoga is a holistic health and wellbeing practice with rigorous standards for certifying teachers to instruct on the physical aspects of the practice. The ACC levy rate is completely unsupported by an even cursory cost/benefit analysis of the practice.
