Google owns and runs youtube. There is a horrendous amount of racist and homophobic abuse in the comments made on the sites. Even when reported, this goes largely unchallenged and there is by no means a strong enough deterrent for people.

This came into focus for me when I was researching the Millenium Development Goals for a youth project I was working on. Videos of famine in Africa have attracted these sorts of comments: "you're obviously a few roos short in the top paddock. The reality is it's NOT the responsibility of White people to save these worthless, dirty, African niggers."

This ignorant, arrogant, vicious bigotry must be stopped.

Challenging them online doesn;t work as I found out recently when I attempted to challenge homophobic abuse in a light hearted way and received the following response:

@natejones99 you are a gay brit fag who likes having big nigger dicks shoved up his ass, your whole country is full of gay posh faggots who are no better than jews, usa could destroy britain easily if it wanted to your lucky we let all you brit fags live

This is simply unacceptable in today's society. Google MUST work harder to prevent these views being aired to millions of people, including vulnerable young people. Sign this petition now!
