Petition supporting Chad Ballard in receiving relief of the trial courts harsh sentencing by the Criminal appeals court.

Updates

December 17, 2015

The process is grinding and often feels hopeless. I am still tracking down legal contacts while waiting for the court to acknowledge our filings. This fight takes everything I have but I intend to see it through to the end.

The sentence for a first time offense in this case is ridiculous. This sentence should be reviewed and reduced.

I don't under how they come up with sentencing, it makes no since that some be given a stiffer sentance than someone of a more serious. Criminal action.

I know of cases where people have MURDERED others, getting only probation. Who draws the line on punishment? There are Sexual Pedophiles who don't get this type of sentence. His punishment might have fit the crime if Chad was a third time offender, but he was not a third nor a second. He was a first time offender. His representation was inadequate, having him sign a blank plea. Plus the person he had the altercation with kept adding injury after injury to the DA. When can the charges stop? How can they charge you with "Assault with a deadly weapon" when there is NO weapon? There are so many questions unanswered......I plea they pardon him, or dismiss all charges and sentences. .

The sentence was far to severe for the infraction.
