I have worked in circuses all over the world and I do believe that they should not be baned . As for everything in this world there are good and bad and with the governing bodies in place today they can be certificated which is more than sufficient and that would sort the wheat from the chaff. ..

Why should an age old tradition be banned because of people's misguided conception of how circus animals are treated and trained. People should educate themselves on the welfare of animals before following the misguided information published by Peta and other radical organisations. Animals that are in circuses have been bred from generations that have been born in human care and not taken from the wild. Wild animals that live in human care live longer than those in the wild.

Hopefully this petition is succsesful. As an ex circus animal keeper, was a sad day when the activist's won in England, But they won on fake stories, which was proved, but the story was out there, Lets hope the Irish have more common sense

Traditional circus ,with animals, is what the public want to see. Circus started in the UK ,and we should support this family entertainment ,and ignore the antics of the biased and uninformed antis.

Circus would not be circus without animals. A difference in ideals does not mean there is abuse. Why don't ppl believe that animal experts love and care for their animals? They spend their whole life making sure their needs a met. It's kind of like a patient telling a surgeon how to do her or his job

There must be a concerted world-wide effort to counteract the pernicious anti-animal (i.e. animal rights) people. Circus performers and associates in the Antipodes stand with you in your fight. Don't let the bullies win!

Keep the animals in the circus and deal with other animal abuse that still goes on everyday and nothing is being about it.

The traditional acts that have been included within Irish circus should be allowed to travel what the ar movement insists are wild animals ... countless accounts by animal behaviourists have concluded that these animals are really not suffering as ars would have the general public bieleve....I have been in the past involved with all types of exotic and wild animals as such for 12years and no abuse of miss handling ever took place ..so ime pro animals acts in Irish and indeed English or continental shows being allowed to show these animals which in their native surroundings are near to extinction ...educational as well as entertainment

Any circus I have been to see in my town I can honestly say I have never seen any animal harmed in any way. I don't know where Paul Murphy is coming from, it is possible he is acting on false info. Get the facts right Paul.

Animal Rights is a 'front' for subversive activity and political fund-raising. Activists operate through a campaign of lies and manipulative actions designed to make targetted animal keepers seem 'abusive'. The circus is an easy target - the public know little of how circus animals are trained and kept, and so are easily misled by false claims of cruelty and of poor conditions. The true agenda of animal rights is to end all animal farming, pet-keeping, horse-riding. Ireland, be warned, don't be misled by these deceptive and duplicitous people; support animal welfare, a positive philosophy, but reject animal rights, an extreme and negative one.
