I believe this proposal would do more harm than good.

As a homeowner in the City of Alexandria, I agree will all of the reasons why seminary road needs to remain 4 lanes. We already have the 2nd to worst traffic in the country. We already live with the poor decisions that led to the huge DOD complex in a residential area. Please don't add to our difficulties!

You fools! You have better and bigger problems to solve than putting bike Lanes on Seminary Rd. These bike Lanes already exist on Braddock road. Restricting traffic flow to and from the hospital is a fools errand and will only lead to more problems and it solves.
Listen to the voters that live and work in Alexandria, you imbeciles.

educing the number of lanes on Seminary Road will further isolate the west end from Old Town. The lowered speed limit alone has increased my commute times. Seminary Road is one of the three access points from the west side to the rest of the city and should be maintained.

The last thing the West End needs is a reduction in lanes. Please! This reminds me of the decision made by City Council to greatly increase federal presence at Mark Center DESPITE the area having no Metro station nearby — when other land with close Metro access was available (Eisenhower Ave for example).

As a regular commuter in rush hour traffic to get to work in DC, narrowing Seminary is illogical; it will be a disaster. If anything, it needs to be widened.

There's no valid reason to reduce the number of lanes (and hence capacity) for an important road that carries so much traffic. How about providing actual viable alternatives to cars instead of just making it more difficult for people to get around?

Neighborhood preservation begins with keeping main traffic flows on our arterials. Keep Seminary Road 4 lanes, but with better pedestrian crossings.

Alexandria resident here. Call me insensitive or call me practical, I just prefer to spend the least possible amount of my time sitting in traffic. I understand the city traffic study points to ‘a small trade-off,’ and I want to city to understand that, in no unequivocal terms, am I willing to make that trade-off. Keep the stretch of seminary road a four lanes. Thanks for your community outreach.

Keep 4 lanes on Seminary: Ambulances, fire trucks, and police vehicles need fast, unimpeded passage on Seminary. You must consider extreme emergency situations, such as a large casualty event or icy and snowy conditions that gridlock traffic. The "road diet" people cite an additional 10 second delay, but that is for NORMAL conditions, not when LIVES ARE ENDANGERED and time is of the essence.
Regarding safety, the speed limit on Seminary is 25 mph, lowered from 35 mph. What are there to show that the 25 mph speed limit has or has not improved safety? There needs to be an evidence-based case to show that the lower speed limit has not improved safety, before implementing another measure. And if safety has not improved, the evidence-based approach requires a root cause analysis. For example, are vehicles continuing to speed, with too little enforcement of the 25 mph speed limit?

I use this corridor in a regular basis. Eliminating a lane would cause congestion. Please keep Seminary Road four lanes.

Although my husband often rides his bike on side streets in Alexandria and elsewhere, neither I nor he support lane reduction on Seminary Road between Howard and Quaker.
