As a student who takes a bus down seminary everyday that takes far too long already and cuts into valuable study time, I oppose any narrowing of seminary lanes.

One needs only to view the King/Russell/commonwealth daily backups to see the foolishness and havoc the “road diet”/bike lanes movement wreaks.

Wholeheartedly support the parking board recommendation that the 4 lanes be maintained and not option 3.

Lane reduction is a very bad idea. I have never seen a bicycle on Seminary Road. Also, the proposal does not take into account the necessary width of lanes for emergency vehicles.

I support the Alexandria Traffic and Parking Board's (TPB) recommendation of June 24, 2019 to repave Seminary Road from North Howard Street to its intersection with Quaker Lane in its current four lane configuration, with the addition of two HAWK pedestrian crossing signals. I feel this is a wise and proper recommendation, and provides the safest and most efficient use of Seminary Road.
As a vital vehicular artery to central Alexandria, and given road section's use by Fire Station #206, the access it provides to the INOVA Alexandria Hospital, and its use by Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS), the TPB correctly determined that the number of lanes should not be reduced. The overall traffic volume congestion would only be worsened by any constriction of the roadway, especially in light of the ACPS requirement for additional busing of students from MacArthur Elementary School to Patrick Henry Elementary School, during the former buildings extended reconstruction.

This idea has been flawed from the start. I'm so glad that through the community outreach we have been able to get the voices heard by the community. We have people making decisions / recommendations to council that don't even live in the city. We also have a bike lobby that is not made up of primarily Alexandria residents -rather outside influencers pushing this. I'm all about making our roads safer and more accessible, but locking up traffic in a major thoroughfare is not the way to do this!

Please keep the four lanes. The alternative is not good for our city. The public overwhelmingly do not want this.
