>>>>>>>>>>>>>read this<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Here’s something to think of. Imagine all the busses leaving Saint Stephens on a 2 lane road every day when school gets out. Need I say more? Oh I am. What about all the traffic leading to SSSAS for football games or other sport events? That’s just crowding more busses and cars into one lane. I don’t want to be late for school because of traffic. If I’m late I can’t learn...:( but I don’t think these people who want this “diet” care about anyone but themselves....The AFD uses seminary road as a direct rout to Alexandria hospital and they even have a fire station on seminary road. But we aren’t looking at that stretch are we? No just cause the 4 sissys that want to make everything worse to make themselves feel better. Darn shame.

Please retain four lanes, while adding improvements for bike and pedestrian safety. This stretch of Seminary is incredibly congested as is. The city should consider traffic circles in certain areas (like King /Quaker/Braddock cluster-f intersection?!) to reduce idling and traffic load.

PLEASE at least test the theory before making a final decision! Cut a lane off and map the traffic patterns during rush hours. Then you can decide where and whether to raise the speed limits, change the timing on the lights, change the direction of different lanes along the route, etc. Given the hospital (ambulances trying to save lives and quality of life), fire department (needs for us to move over to a right lane in both directions to drive as quickly as possible to save lives and property) the many, many school busses needing to take turns that will block the "thru" lane in each direction on this road if one lane disappears, and the 25 mph speed limit, the majority of traffic -- which is not buses, ambulances, or fire vehicles -- cannot navigate the many lights, reduced speed limit, and emergency/school vehicle convergence, and still commute from the major Van Dorn and Seminary arteries to eastern points without taking an inordinant amount of time. The goal should be to alleviate congestion in a safe way, rather than strangle it for no additional safety.

I’m not in favor of bikes landed at the expense of car lanes. Cars come first on Seminary.

Excessive backup and delays already with the 4 lanes, 2 would cause unbearable bottleneck on major thoroughfare.

I am on Seminary Road at least four times a week. I cannot imagine having a lane in each direction eliminated. It is heavily trafficked as it is. It will become hazardous not only for cars but especially for bikers. In my opinion adding bike lanes will be a danger to anyone traveling Seminary Road.

I believe if you check the history of travel incidents/accidents over this stretch of road, they have occurred on the western area of Seminary Road so this is not a good excuse to narrow the roads to 2 lanes in an effort to decrease accidents. It will increase the time it takes to get to the hospital, the doctors' offices, the schools, and to work and it is ridiculous to provide a good share of a major travel route for the minimal use of cyclists.

I have watched closely Arlington's experience with trading traffic lanes for bike lanes (e.g., Williamsburg); hardly any bikes and the loss of a lane for traffic. And Seminary carries a lot more traffic than Williamsburg.

With all the traffic on Seminary at all hours of the day, it's unbelieveable that one would propose narrowing Seminary from four to two lanes.

Please do not decrease lane capacity as it is a priority to have more than “Two Lanes” on a busy street to prevent hold ups.

Very strongly against Seminary to two lanes. Such a reduction would make the traffic situation just intolerable for neighborhoods and residents on both sides of I 395.
