Please do not reduce seminary to 2 lanes. The traffic in this area is already horrific, and this will only make it work. Yes, the biking community is very vocal and activist, but those who do not support the road shrinkage are also a very influential and strong voting block even if they aren’t as ‘loud’ as the bikers.

reducing lanes to force traffic elsewhere will not work as there are no good options for the traffic to travel east/west in alexandria

Writing to express our support for maintaining four lanes on Seminary Road as backed by various civic groups, the fire dept., Alexandria residents and the INOVA Hospital. Asking that you are respectful and considerate of our feedback as longtime West End residents who have had many changes to Beauregard St. in terms of additional high density residential housing, and the BRAC building with no additional infrastructure changes/support. We will be watching the upcoming vote closely, and it’s outcome will affect how we vote in the next mayoral and council elections.

Taking away vital roads willNOT solve traffic issues in alexandria. Public transportation is not robust enough to serve the area. Any reduction I. Roadway before considering how to expand efficient and effective public transport (and the buses are neither) is negligent.

As a taxpaying citizen living on the West End of the city (40+ years!), I call on the City Council to vote MY interest in retaining Seminary Road as 4 lanes for automobile traffic, so that it serves the community the way it was intended - as a major thoroughfare for AUTOMOBILE traffic through this corridor. What's with the idiocy of having "road diets" when the same Alexandria city officials keep adding density to the west end without having made any improvements to the already clogged roads needed by automobile traffic? I have rarely seen bicyclists on Seminary Road – could that be, perhaps, because there are already other nearby safe options -- trails (Try the Holmes Run/ Cameron Run trail!) for traveling to Old Town or a Metro station on a bicycle. So, instead of giving us “road diets,” may I propose that the Transportation and Environmental Services Division give us ADDED lanes to roads to alleviate some of the congestion created by the ever-increasing density city officials have already approved for the west end? In other words, PLAN for the increase in traffic when you are working on the projects which add the density. I should think that would be a no-brainer, but, well, this current proposal definitely shows that the collective of the people in charge of planning have lost their minds!

The fire departments concerns over response time should be enough to stop this stupid idea not wanted by the people who actually use Seminary. The WEST end is punished enough with the BRAC building and related traffic. I don't want to mean, but the TES staff is smoking something if they think reducing lanes will do any good. I do support the improved crosswalks, that is a smart idea, the rest is wasting taxpayer dollars. I have little faith the city will actually listen to West End reisidents.

Seminary should be left as is. There is no easy way for people in my neighborhood near Bishop Ireton to get to 395. Any of Seminary, Duke, Quaker and King are backed up. Seminary going east is backed up at Quaker for the thru lane already. The four lane stretch is not dangerous in any way with the reduced speed limit. It will not encourage public transportation use b/c so many are not near it.

Find a solution that citizens of Alexandria support. The reduction of lanes doesn’t address traffic or safety issues. Alternative 3 is a bicycle plan being supported by non-residents. The Metro COG deals with multi-jurisdiction road issues not TE&S. Let Alexandria’s Rec. Department work with residents on a bicker plan. Don’t piggy-Back someone else’s agenda onto our problems. It’s about auto and car congestion.

Don't create traffic jams (with added pollution). Keep four lanes at Seminary Rd.
