I'm opposed to reducing Seminary Road to two lanes with a center turning lane.

Streets were designed to be safe for their original purpose. Carving out bike lanes compromises that safety and the lives of bikers.

I further respectfully request that any city official or consultant who does support narrowing Seminary be made to include that stretch of soon-to-be even more congested road in their daily commutes.

The proposed 4-3 lane reduction on Seminary Road is nonsensical. We, the locals, are already landlocked in our homes from 5 pm to 7 pm on weeknights while half of Maryland clogs our streets trying to avoid the Beltway. Reducing lanes on Seminary Road is going to make this exponentially slower, and worse. Seriously, rethink this.

The 4-3 plan has created traffic to be worse on Kong Street from Janney’s Lane to Braddock Rd. This same Thing will happen if done to Seminary. It is nearly impossible for pedestrians to cross King because people won’t slow down and don’t want to stop with the long line of cars that one lane creates. It is also virtually impossible for a car to pull out or cross King Street from a driveway or side road because there is rarely a break in the line of traffic. Two lanes in each direction let’s traffic flow at normal pace and gives a buffer between vehicles thus leading to space for pedestrians and vehicles to enter or cross the street. There are not enough bycicles in this area of town to warrant bike lanes over vehiclular lanes.

I am 100% against reducing roadway for bike lanes and not fixing the road surface based upon the concept that city may reduce the travel lanes at the same time

Closing lanes will not get people out of cars. It just creates traffic jams and Idling cars pollute the atmosphere. Until you can provide public transport on the levels of NYC or London—where people can get where they are going in a timely manner—you’re not getting people out of cars. What has the City done for motorists in the past 35 years that I’ve lived here? Broaden the viaduct on Braddock? Add that road on the far side of Potomac yards?

I use seminary road daily to pick my daughter up from school. The backup on seminary going east at the intersection of Quaker and seminary is horrendous around 5pm due to people turning right onto Quaker. Please do not reduce lanes!

I am very much opposed to the narrowing of Seminary road.

As a City resident, I strongly oppose a reduction in the number of through lanes on Seminary Road between 395 and Quaker Lane.

This is a stupendously stupid plan. Traffic in parts of this city is already an absolute nightmare, and reducing Seminary Road, a major artery, to two usable lanes as proposed in Alternative 3, is going to make it exponentially worse. I use Seminary constantly and cannot imagine how this plan would EVER serve to improve the usability or safety of this corridor. Improving sidewalks is never a bad idea, but reducing traffic flow, especially when there will be a fairly imminent increase in traffic due to the MacArthur project, is an extraordinarily bad idea, and obviously I oppose it.

Repave Seminary Road and nothing else. Reducing traffic lanes would create a massive traffic jam at the top of Ft. Williams Parkway every morning and night. Residents of Seminary Ridge would be captives in our own neighborhood.

I am 100% against eliminating any lanes on Seminary Road. I question why this is even being discussed. I do, however, support keeping the speed limit as-is. The bottom line is that yes, we need the lanes the accomodate the vehicle traffic that will NOT turn to bike traffic simply because some would like it to. However, these are still residential neighborhoods, and we should NOT increase the speed limits... and why are we trying to start a whole new debate within the current one anyway?

Car traffic is horrendous in our area, let’s not make it worse by reducing vehicular roadways.

Retain the status quo (4 lanes) and return speed limits on major streets to previous limits.

Leave Seminary Road the way it is, and put the speed limit back up to 35 m.p.h. This place is becoming intolerable.
