This is a terrible idea that will only exacerbate traffic and safety issues. Thank you for rejecting any lane reductions.

This proposal will make traffic untenable.

The residents located on or near Seminary Road are already subjected to terrible traffic congestion much of which is through commuters. Eliminating lanes to accommodate a few cyclists is outrageous. Those commuters are not going to bike to and from Fairfax and Prince Georges counties.

Living in this neighborhood is a pain, whether it’s trying to walk with the immense amount of cut-through traffic, or the glacial process of trying to drive to work. Anytime I go anywhere, the time just getting out of the neighborhood is an annoyingly large chunk of my drive time, partly because of the non-local traffic, and partly because of the slow speed limits and bike sharing lanes that slow it down further. I assume that road diet changes will just make it even more frustrating and exhausting to drive in my neighborhood.

Alexandria City should concentrate on the quality of existing roads. Pavement is generally in horrible condition throughout the city, and poorly executed patching of construction related excavations is generally the rule resulting in numerous potholes. Rental bike parking areas take up too much roadway space, and rental scooters litter our sidewalks. Street maintenance, construction supervision, and rental bike and scooter regulation standards are needed, not fewer traffic lanes.

no need to change the traffic flow to reduce access on Seminary. we are opposed to any of the options to change the lanes for bikes or merged lanes. No thought given to where the traffic would go causing more congestion -- just at another location. Taxpayer money should be spent to repave Seminary road and fix the potholes permanently.

Driving and traffic is difficult enough. Does the city really believe making driving more dangerous and difficult will take people out of cars and on bikes??? The scooter issue is a whole other example of accidents waiting to happen.

Reducing lanes on Seminary will do nothing but make the traffic congestion between Howard and Quaker worse than it already is. The side roads have already become more congested since the speed reduction on these roads due to bailout traffic. I do not support the T&ES recommendation to go to 3 lanes. Have we not learned from the experiment on King Street? This sort of action is costly and only adds to the frustration our local driving and tax paying neighbors. Please leave Seminary a four lane artery.

Please stop with the projects that harm most to help a few. These types of social engineering projects are why people move to Arlington and their property values outrank ours!

Just another way Alexandria shows it’s unfriendly side, increases air pollution, and extends the Confederacy mindset.

Reducing the number of lanes for numerous roads through Alexandria to benefit few people is not in the best interest of the majority.

Every morning, we drive on King Street. The amount of traffic is unbelievable since the lanes were reduced. Trying to pull out on to King Street is pretty dicey now. We have only seen an occasional bike on the bike lanes. Why was this done?

All that needs to be done to Seminary Road is repaving & restriping. Do not change anything else.

Request lanes on Seminary Rd stay at 4 lanes as designed. The additional improvements to the cross walks, additional lights for side streets and expand the side walks to accommodate the potential bike traffic like Arlington has. Seems the shared path for walkers and bikes works rather well on the Mt Vernon trail

The 4-to-3 decision with King street was, at best, an unmitigated disaster. Bringing traffic on Quaker to a crawl was similarly stupid. Bike lanes added to Kenwood Ave? What have the city planners been smoking?. Can we put an end to these stupid decisions? If not, will the City be beginning a drive to use "Clean coal". Suffocating traffic patterns in the City is essentially the same mind-set.. Where is the pragmatic common sense.snd rationality in our City leadership? I find myself totally underwhelmed. -Jerry Whitmire

Reducing the number of lanes of Seminary Road could have tragic consequences with the traffic of 3 schools and Episcopal Seminary turning off Quaker during peak commuter times, with young drivers all on a primary artery for emergency vehicles going to and from our entire city to our local hospital. This road and other major arteries of Quaker Lane, King Street, and Duke need to be made more efficient in conveying traffic through our city, with a minimum of backup, increased smog and idling vehicles that have resulted from the narrowing of lanes and roads and speed reductions on these roads. I went to the city meeting on the narrowing of King Street. It was voted in with the understanding that if back ups increased, and cars used neighborhood roads more, and it wasn’t working efficiently, that they would take it back to 4 lanes. That needs to happen. All the negative results have happened and the change needs to be reversed. The pedestrian improvements do seem to be a success, but efficient traffic conveyance furling peak use times has not been successful.
