Bike lanes would be great, but not at the expense of reduced vehicular capacity on Seminary. YES to modernized crosswalks. YES to on-demand traffic light at Fort Williams Pkwy & Seminary. NO to reducing vehicular lanes.

The lanes need to stay as is. The traffic is already bad with the craziness of the lane drawings, especially near the hospital and then Quaker Lane.

Traffic was impeded by reducing traffic lanes to two just for bicycles on Van Dorn Street with increased congestion. I travel Van Dorn multiple times daily including weekends and never see any bike riders. It was ridiculous to make traffic congestion worse for no reason at all.

Reducing the number of travel lanes on Seminary Lane is a terrible idea. Aside from restricting BRAC traffic from heading east over 395 entirely, the next best idea would be to create a right turn lane at Seminary Rd east and Quaker lane.

*. Retain the existing 4 lanes on Seminary Rd. *. Widen/add sidewalks on either/both sides. *. Add modern crosswalks at appropriate areas. *. Install a traffic signal at Fort Williams Parkway. *. Include bicycle lanes as part of expanded sidewalks and/or through the Seminary property.

There needs to be a way in and out of neighborhoods without facing immediate congestion. Duke Street is already a problem. After that we have only Seminary and a very busy Quaker!

I'm not in favor of more bike lanes. Keep Seminary Road the same.

The proposals from the City's staff to change the configuration of Seminary Road in this area seem like a proposed solution searching for a non-existent problem. Other areas in Alexandria may actually need major road reconfiguration for safety. This area does not. If cut through drivers need to slow down it would be more helpful to have the police "strictly enforce" the existing speed limit along Seminary Road as multiple speed limit signs claim they do.

Just when we thought the city leaders couldn't make things any worse...they prove us wrong again. One party rule by any party is never an optimal situation.

Don't reduce lanes on Seminary Road. We live on Janneys Lane and its already a disaster at rush hour. With multiple school systems and buses it would make a bad situation even worse for residents.

Reducing lanes will significantly increase traffic density, not decrease volume. Increased density will be less safe for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Pedestrian safety could be improved with improved signals, sidewalks, and crossings.

I see lot of additional risks we face if Seminary Road lands are reduced. There is nothing wrong with what we currently have and I am completely against any change. I have lived on Seminary Road for 30 years.

As a daily car driver (and in my younger years a bicyclist and pedestrian, too) on Seminary Road and as a Alexandria voting resident for 50 years living on streets just off Seminary Road (Kenmore Avenue, Jordan Street, Saint Stephens Road and now Cloverway), I have the experience to envision the delays and angered drivers that would result from the City's plan to convert that arterial roadway into a two or three lane thoroughfare. Multiply the present lines at rush hour trafficon Seminary at N Quaker Lane, Howard Street, N Jordan Street, Kenmore Avenue and probably N Pickett Street and one can see how unacceptable travel conditions will become. I shall never vote for any city councilman/woman or mayor who votes for this road diet. Enough is enough.

Do NOT narrow Seminary to 2 lanes!! Also restore speed limit to 35 on Quaker and Seminary and King.

The proposal to change Seminary Road from 4 lanes is bluntly - asinine. Restricting traffic on one of the major east-west routes is short sighted and ultimately benefits a few people while hurting the vast majority.

As a daily user of this stretch of road, I often see emergency services vehicles headed toward the hospital. I wonder if reducing the number of lanes will increase their response time and lead to tragic consequences....

As 35 year residents of Seminary Hill, Alexandria City Government lunacy is nothing new. We learned a lesson from Karig estate misdeed. We must stay united and make our views known to all.
