Please do not take away necessary driving lanes. Also, our tax dollars are better spent on other important items.

The majority of us need cars to navigate life. Fewer lanes for us doesn’t make sense.

I am adding my name tp protest removing traffic lanes from Seminary Road. I was an avid biker but believe bike lanes cannot be at the restriction of the ordinary citizenry's use of the roads they pay for to get to work or their children or the hospital.

I am opposed to the narrowing of lanes on seminary road. It feels anti-Family. I can’t bus or bike my children and their friends to all of their extracurricular activities during the week. We struggle enough with the Traffic congestion caused by the narrowing of King Street. We would hate to see another major artery in Alexandria undergo the same change. I am absolutely opposed to this proposal.

This proposal is a solution in search of a problem. The data don’t support a need to narrow lanes or manage traffic on Seminary Road west of Quaker except for the section immediately surrounding the I-395 interchange. This area was made significantly worse by the City’s ill advised approval of the Mark Center with no plan for traffic management. That is where the safety issues really lie. Yet the City looks to impose a plan that will make traffic through the area worse and will make it far more difficult for West End residents to travel east/west in a City that already has overcrowded roadways. Don’t do this to the West End. We don’t want it.

Narrowing Semjnary Road is a bad idea. It might discourage drivers from using using Seminary Road to connect 395 to Quaker, Old Town, and Telegraph, but those cars have to go somewhere. The traffic is not going away because Seminary Road is an exit off of a major highway. Narrowing the road will only force cars onto truly residential neighborhood streets like Jordan, Pegram, and Howard. Please keep Seminary Road 4 lanes. Widen the whole road for bike lanes if needed and monitor speed limits for safety, but don’t don’t take away car lanes.

This reduction of motor vehicle lanes and addition of bike lanes is unnecessary and will negatively impact Alexandria. Vote no!

I vehemently oppose putting any more roads on a diet. Hasn't done anything for King Street except increase congestion and create unsafe situations as people try to beat the line up of cars. Also the frequent blocking of bike lanes creates an even more hazardous conditions. The 25 mph speed limit is ridiculous. Put it back to 35 and ENFORCE 35 for King and Also Quaker.

I am strongly opposed to any changes to seminary road east of 395. Not needed and impact to Jordan and Howard will be devastating.

With the traffic around here, this idea is SO foolish. Talk about special interests.

I support the petition. I am in favor of retaining 4 lanes as is with no reduction in width. The City's Alternative One keeps 4 lanes but narrows the 2 center lanes to 10 feet each to "discourage speeding." I am totally opposed to narrowing the lanes. Speeding can be discouraged by more tickets and higher fines.

Before we continue to muck around with the layout of Seminary Road and reducing the number of vehicle lanes, the City make a concerted effort to enforce the posted speed limit. This step should have been done before the speed limit was reduced to the current 25 MPH limit, but enforcing the speed limit would address the majority of issues that people have with the current configuration. Add in a high visibility cross walk or two, possibly expanding the sidewalk and we can increase safety (though this stretch of road is already much more safe than Seminary Road from Library Lane and west) and allow for vehicular traffic. Seminary Road is unique in that it has a fire station, the only hospital in Alexandria, AND a exit off of the interstate highway system. Having an highway exit and then reducing travel lanes down to one lane in each direction is absurd.

Closing lanes on Seminary will only make traffic worse. Please consider not allowing turns off Quaker Lane and or Janney's lane during evening rush hours to non-residents

As another stated earlier this is pure madness to address the needs specific to bicyclists but not the other community members who don't bike.

Stop the madness! Enough of the bike lanes already.

This is a wrong solution looking for a problem. Enough with the bike lanes. This whole proposal is insane, and should never be adopted.

Hi all - I have a different view on this, sorry. I was almost killed on Braddock Road 3 months ago as I rode my bike in the right most shared car / "bike" lane on a Sunday morning. A woman was talking on a large iPhone MAX and holding it in her right hand. She was going down Braddock road and never saw me as her large iPhone blocked her view of me and road. Sharing the main roads with cars is really not a safe solution. Bike lanes are needed - not just for bikes, but scooters and joggers, and runners. The sidewalk is not big enough or safe for bikes or scooters to share with walkers. We need a better solution. Sincerely, Tyler
