Do not choke commuters and residents with lane restrictions. The goal should be to move traffic out of the city as quickly as possible through added infrastructure, not decreased infrastructure.

We cannot take our children across town to fields at Witter or Cameron Station on a bike. We must drive them and the traffic on our city streets is out of control.

It increasingly getting more difficult to travel around Alexandria. Trips are now taking double the time because of reduced speeds and lanes. Please do not change Seminary Road.

I firmly oppose the suggested changes to Seminary Road; they are not needed and will increase our increasingly congested roads.

It’s time for Alexandria to recognize that while some national initiatives like Vision Zero are good and logical, they don’t fit well with all locations. It makes absolutely no sense to reduce lane space in a town with a road network designed for a colonial village. Not only has this city over-built it’s population with many new high density dwellings, but our neighbors on all sides have done the same leading to absolute gridlock during prime time hours. Reducing or otherwise restricting existing lane space only exacerbates the problem as evidenced by the number of traffic light cycles one has to sit through before getting across an intersection. Eg; Russell Road, King Street. Wake up Alexandria. You can’t justify any of these changes with logic so it has to be about control and eventual submission.

This is irresponsible planning for it will create traffic congestion that will significantly slow patient access to the Alexandria Hospital, including the Emergency Room as most patients arrive there in their own cars.

fewer lanes means more frustrating time in the car, away from family and polluting our environment - care for the young lungs get the cars through the neighborhoods not stalled in long slow moving lines of traffic.

Any proposal that restricts flow in that manner is idiotic. It will simply push heavier traffic onto Braddock and Duke Streets which are already overloaded.

I see that all the time. Around 5pm, there’s always at least one car who decides to skip the line and use the turn lane to butt into the other lane. There have been times that I’ve missed the turn signal entirely because of these twits.

Please stick to the original, approved plan and do not narrow Seninary Road to add bike lanes. Thank you.

Seriously, this is insanity. Let me tell you what I witnessed today - I was at the light at Janneys and Quaker going Westbound. I had the red light. I go through this intersection multiple times a day ferrying kids to/from Scroggins & Braddock to SSSAS Upper School campus. As I was sitting at the red light waiting for it to turn green, a driver in the left hand land of oncoming traffic (that lane is required to turn left onto Quaker, BTW) decided to go straight instead of make the required left hand turn (essentially the driver did not want to wait in that long line of traffic to go straight onto Janneys, so they decided to cut the line) and was barreling down Seminary going way over 25 mph and went through the green light as soon as turned and almost hit me head on as I was sitting there waiting to go straight onto Seminary. That whole intersection as it currently is designed is already such a mess, the current proposals would make a bad and dangerous situation untenable. The intersection is a death trap - I worry so much about teenage driver going through it. Please fix the current problem and do not try to reconfigure it for bikes. You need cops out there monitoring the speed limit on Quaker and Janneys and ensuring the safety of the drivers going through that intersection, that would help matters immensely. Drivers need to slow down and obey the rules of the road!!

Reducing lanes will cause worse traffic tie ups on this important commuter road while fouling the air in our neighborhoods with cars idling in back up traffic.
