Support the Seminary Hill Assn proposal that is also backed by an unprecedented # of other Alexandria Civic Assoc1ations. Just pave the road.

This is another case of tyranny of the minority, as was the bike lanes which are not used. Traffic planners need to do their job - Move traffic. We have an enormous amount of traffic on Seminary Road, and more high-rise buildings are planned in the area at the xroads - Beauregard Mark Center (one replacing a well built mid-century modern office building - which matches other buildings in the Mark Center area). (A zoning mistake). Let's not increase the chaos. Seminary road is not a quiet neighborhood road.

Leave well enough alone -4 lanes not some cozy residential street . Major mistake. Seminary Road is a major thoroughfare from Fairfax Country to Quaker Lane - a lot of commuters ( including BRAC complex) going to and from the Beltway. I understand that the traffic count study is skewed to not take into account rush hour traffic. Also, I understand that People who live in the area do not want any changes! Outside interests should not be taken into account!

Leave the 4 lanes as is - Seminary is already congested - going to 2 lanes would create gridlock and 3 lanes sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

A traffic study is needed terribly for all the major roads in this city. Seminary is a major road and needs to remain at 4 lanes.

As a resident of the City of Alexandria for over 40 years and one who traverses the city from one end to the other weekly, I strongly believe that the 4 lanes be maintained on Seminary Road.

The city needs to focus on moving traffic not clogging it up more. Start by not giving pedestrians the right of way. They walk out and don’t even look for cars. It’s a ridiculous rule to give pedestrians the right of way in a road. It would be like giving cars the right of way on a sidewalk .

Have lived on West End for decades ( since 1992) and having unfortunately been taken to Alexandria Hospital by ambulance up Seminary in dire straights, I only say, do not cut these commuting lanes for our first responders. Tyvm.

To whom it may concern,
I am an Alexandria resident who supports the Traffic and Parking Board's (TPB) June 2019 recommendation to maintain Seminary Road’s four-lane configuration with key pedestrian safety improvements. The majority of residents in North Central Alexandria are negatively affected by traffic congestion and want leaders to consider neighborhood cut-through traffic and other impacts from lane reductions on this major arterial roadway. Given our need to connect with INOVA Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS)/St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School, Fire Station #206 and Interstate I-395, the TPB has correctly determined that car lanes should not be reduced. I urge you to vote in favor of the TPB’s decision on September 14th. I’m #44onSeminary and an #AlexTrafficVoter!
As an elected official, you should be bound by serving the greater good and NOT the elite few. You are letting the tail wag the dog on this issue.

Please STOP placing the rights of cyclists above those of ALL other citizens. Road improvements are NOT paid for with bicycle tax dollars, but rather gas tax and car tax dollars.
