The city ought to be thinking widening, not narrowing Seminary. Or, be subjected to the traffic from 2-7 .

the lowered speed limit is alread a bottleneck, with more people moving into the area (Amazon) we need better road systems not less!

We use this road frequently and would hate to see more backup traffic than we have already.

It's ridiculous to take away car lanes in Alexandria. With the amount of growth in the city, you should be finding ways to help automobiles navigate the city instead of make it take longer to get somewhere and increase road rage!

This road as a fairly substantial volume of traffic. It would be a nightmare to reduce it to 2 or 3 lanes. These are not enough bikes or scooters on that road to justify this change. Until that changes they can use the sidewalk.

Leave well enough alone. This, like the Quaker Lane decision, is ridiculous. These are major thoroughfares in a large urban area. Quit trying to make them country roads. Kingston Avenue

Please keep Seminary Road between Howard and Quaker as it is. Why subject the citizens of Alexandria to major taxpayer-funded expenses only to worsen an already dire traffic situation! The stretch of Seminary Road you are proposing to "fix" is not the part of Seminary Road where accidents are occurring.

Bike lanes on Seminary are an unnecessary hazard.

I’m against any and all change because my old, feeble brain can’t handle it. Raise the speed limit on Seminary to 55 MPH so I can race my Land Rover to the hospital whenever I feel dizzy. Erase the crosswalks, too. Only communists walk. I promise to fight this by attending the next public hearing and yelling incoherently at Council. Maybe I’ll post a handwritten sign in my front yard, too! My thanks to the stable geniuses behind this petition for giving crazy people in Alexandria something to do.

Too much traffic on these local streets for removing a whole lane to dedicate to bicycles. Widen street and sidewalk if you want to add bike lane don't constrict traffic artery!

Do not reduce the lanes on Seminary Road.

The City of Alexandria must stop cannibalizing roadways to squeeze in useless bicycle lanes that serve less than a handful of its residents and taxpayers. The idea of compressing traffic on Seminary Road for the sake of accommodating an occasional bicyclist is irresponsible, unsafe, and a waste of taxpayer dollars. This is just another feel-good bureaucratic concept project that looks cute on paper but delivers no tangible improvement to the everyday life of its citizens. Repave Seminary as is and get on with it.

There is already so much commuter traffic on Seminary Road. Please do not make it worse by shutting down one lane.

This seems like an unnecessary change. This part of Alexandria is not a downtown area where lots of cyclists are commuting. This is a suburban area.

Why are you guys trying to make a bad situation worse

Keep Seminary 4 lanes. Reduction of lanes will only cause more congestion.

The resulting impact will be a massive increase of vehicular traffic and traffic-related delays. The addition of bike lanes is an unnecessary expenditure and waste of taxpayer funds.

This type of solution has already been a disaster on King St and Van Dorn St. Stop doubling down on bad ideas. If you want to reduce cut-through traffic, install ezpass/photo tolls in residential neighborhoods that will operate during rush hour and will exempt all local residents and individuals who have verifiable employment in the area.

A few people are trying to “fix” a problem that doesn’t exist to get bike lanes that few others use. The problems that exist on Seminary Rd are the lane configuration at the Quaker Ln/Seminary Rd/Janneys Ln intersection, almost zero enforcement of existing speed limits, red light runners at St Stephens Rd. There are other traffic priorities that I would consider more urgent such as the inability for cars to pull out from Key Dr, Sterling, Trinity and other streets onto Quaker Ln.

Do not decrease the number of lanes on Seminary Rd. It will make traffic on Janney's Lane even worse!
