The recently appointed Florida Surgeon General, Dr. Joseph Ladapo has used his bully pulpit to spread doubt about the safety and effectiveness of COVID19 vaccines, promoted the use of unproven and possibly dangerous medications to treat COVID19, questioned the value of face masks in preventing the spread of the pandemic and has signed on with Frontline, an organization that promotes the idea of handling the pandemic without vaccines, but "natural herd immunity," a goal that would cost many unnecessary deaths.

We, the undersigned concerned physicians and nurses of Florida, realizing the serious implications of the misinformation being spread in our state and nation demand action from the Board of Medicine, the Florida Medical Association, and the Florida Nurses Association. In states where vaccination is encouraged the pandemic is coming under control. Florida, in contrast, is among the worst in the nation for number of cases and deaths per 100,000 population. The Board, FMA, and the Florida Nurses Association should at the very least publicly censure Dr. Ladapo, if not revoke his medical license.
