Away for the Day seems to be a great solution to the enormous job of teaching middle schoolers moderation around the use of technology. We are in unprecedented times. This helps both educators and parents!

Research clearly indicates that cellphones interfere with learning and social development in the school environment. Supporting an "away for the day" policy at McMurray is a great way for parents to support their kids.

I strongly support making McMurray a cell phone-free place. For this age group it is a distraction that is detrimental to their education. Cell phone usage should be for before and after school only, not during school hours.

This mission is so important to the health of our community! There is no judgment about what we do in our own homes. We are entitled to maintain personal screen rules in our own homes based on our cultural values. This petition is an effort to keep our kids engaged in social relationships (IRL!!!) at school. The school has a responsibility to support the safety, social and emotional health of their students. They are also accountable for providing adequate technology resources at school as part of their commitment to reduce class disparities and limits to access. Equity is a standard, not an exception.
Let's send them the message that we exist in large numbers. Please sign this petition!
