We regularly travel through La Riviere. The lack of phone service on a well-traveled Provincial Highway is a public safety concern for all Manitobans.

The Internet in southern Manitoba is horrific, and the rates are outrageous. It's actually difficult to contact or visit my parents at Somerset.

All the comments so far are valid facts. We are forced to pay separately for all conveniences that folks living outside these areas take for granted. In my mind the most important is the emergency aspect. Our fire, ambulance and police are limited while they are in the valley. What a sad statement to make in this day and age of technology.

Tourists and visitors think we are making a joke about getting in their vehicle and driving to the top of the hill if they need cell service - that is until they try to use their phone ! Cell phones for children, adults and seniors in this town is an absolute must. We have been asking MTS for years and still today - nothing !!

when city people can have LTE at competitive contracts at $35/month and rural people and business owners pay $100/month for service plus buy a $400 booster just to get by with 1-3 bars something is wrong. La Rivière and Somerset area are both in very frustrating dead spots. Why is it we have the technology to send photos back from Pluto or have full cell access on a mountain ski resort but can't get a signal to a small prairie valley. It's beyond the need to Instagram a picture or two. Computers/phones can't update and businesses can run smoothly. I don't think it should just be MTS that fixes this. What about all the other providers making profits on just the city business.

Cell service in the village would be much appreciated. Whether I visit for a meeting in the hall, to visit a food service establishment, to attend the outdoor theatre site or the ski hill

This is a must for the ski hill especially in an emergency situation for someone who could be stranded on the hill or if their car breaks down,etc

Holiday Mtn., is correct. It is 2015 and they should have cell phone coverage. Northern Manitoba has cell phone coverage, why not LaRiviere and surrounding areas?
