Who ever thought this was a good idea? We need more trees, not fewer. I understand that there may be a need to thin or manage them, but the carnage of clear-cutting in the era of Climate Change is so utterly irresponsible. Our state is named Penn’s Woods. We can do better PENNDOT!

This is great and I hope they stop cutting down the trees. They are vital to our environment and health.

This does feel like carnage. Shocked and dismayed by this extremely expensive and counterproductive action. The cutting of these trees will require added grass cutting long term. We need more trees not less.

Cutting these trees down is the stupidest thing I've heard of. Those trees are a windbreak....can't wait to see all the crashes now....considering the inability of PennDot to maintain the roads in the winter.

This removal will cause more accidents with the winds blowing snow straight across I 79 no trees as the buffers. We need to save trees because soon we won’t have any anywhere.

Preventing accidents? How about when a semi crosses the center line into oncoming traffic instead of hitting a tree to slow down. Almost as stupid as the metal fencing installed on I90 that will ping pong cars in an accident instead of just going into the median, cant even safely pull off the road on that side and both sides ma6 ne needed when an accident happens. Money wasting and not thought thru bs

I drive this stretch almost daily. I can only imagine the reduced visibility and worsened road conditions without this natural buffer. Guardrails, PENNDOT! SMH.

Absolutely no point to this! Now I am blasted by the high beams that the trees in the divide between north and south on I-79 used to block. It’s actually more dangerous!

Thank you for starting this petition! This PennDot project has nothing to do with safety.. It's just about money.

What a mess this is going to cause this winter. Let alone you cut down all these trees but what about the wild life? What about replanting the trees??

Anyone who drives this stretch of road every day, such as myself, knows that the lack of trees in the median is going to make Winter driving conditions a lot worse in numerous ways.

The tree's serve as a wind breaker. As someone who drives this stretch of highway twice a day I know how horrible the snowdrifts can be in areas without tree breaks. I am not looking forward to this commute when the snow hits. Clearly whoever made this decision never travels in this area.

the interstates are treacherous enough in the winter, without these trees it is going to be even worse..

I don't buy penndots for safety claim? I think it will allow snow to drift ,and also icy conditions due to more wind blowing across the road. It seems that the state may have too much gas tax money, and don't know where to spend it? This tree cutting seems senseless coming from someone who drives this stretch of road 5 days a week. And how long does it take to repave 5 miles of interstate? Talk about milking a job? Our tax dollars at work?

18 years I've lived within a mile of all the trees cut, can't ever remember vehicle having any problems in that area but I'm sure there will be now with all the protection of the highway wiped out.

I’m not a tree hugger. This makes NO sense.
