Chorleywood Common is a successful youth football club who has seen its membership grow year on year. Recently obtaining the FA Charter Standard. Plus running a soccer school for 5+6 yr olds. We submitted plans to Three Rivers District Council to grant us the use of extra land for 3 more pitches and a new car park. This was turned down with some very feeble reasons. "We would create a noise nuisance to the nearby house" "The car park would urbanize an area of outstanding beauty" (that already has a phone mast) !! "There are plants of special interest in the field we wish to use"
We have done our best to work with the council on each of the objections, we would ONLY use the field on Sunday mornings. How much of a nuisance is that to a house 100 meters away
The Council know any car park can easily be formed from materials which are in keeping with the natural surroundings.
We are carrying out a nature study on the field in question to show it is no more special than the remaining 70 acres in Chorleywood House Grounds, we ONLY require 7 acres, plenty left for dog walkers, ramblers and plants.
We now ask for your support as we formally appeal against their rejection. Help us to keep more youngsters healthy, fit (now a Government aim) and off the streets.
I really did not think this would gain so much traction when I started typing out my frustrations about the council and their ridiculous comments about the land. It is wild to see how many people want our kids on the pitch instead of just wandering around on Sunday mornings. My phone has been buzzing constantly and honestly it feels like we finally have a real chance to show them that we are not going away.

Absolute joke. The council is always looking for reasons to say no instead of helping the community kids. Let them play!!

Urbanize a field? Give me a break. There is literally a phone mast right there. Typical council nonsense.

My son loves playing here every Sunday. The current fields are way too crowded and its dangerous for the little ones. Just let us have the extra space.

Need more places for kids to run around and stay active. The reasons they gave are tiny compared to the benefit for the club.

Keep the boys and girls off the streets and out on the grass. Its only Sunday morning for gods sake.

Use the land for something productive instead of letting it sit there. The kids need these pitches.
