This is unacceptable! My mother already wants me and my brother to move to California because she says the education here is lower. Doing this will only make it worse, not better! Here at Hyde Park, our standards are higher than the normal ones, sending kids into Algebra classes at 7th grade and 8th grade, Geometry at 8th. Our Orchestra is a legend, the Band amazing, the Choir outstanding, Guitar spectacular, Robotics off the charts, MathCounts dominating; we don't want that to stop now, we have to keep going to keep Hyde Park on the top and helping the students get a better future. Doing this will not only cut our pathways short, but it will demolish our economy. Magnet schools are what keeps Nevada running; take it away and we are a broken machine.

I'd just like to give a quick shoutout to everybody who has signed this petition. It is amazing that you all care about this cause enough to take time out of your day to do this. Are we really kicking the magnet progams out of our curriculum? Why would we prevent our kids to become smarter? Many kids would be losing a great oppurtunity to increase their knowledge. Taking magnet away steals kids education and it lowers CCSD's status. What's going to happend to the kids in magnet programs? Will parents have to look to home-schooling?

By doing this you are depriving us students of choosing the magnet schools we want to go to. For example, let us take Hyde Park. Hyde Park is a hub of kids who specifically go to that school in order to obtain competition and learn from others. They want to collaborate with others who are at their thinking level. Give us FREEDOM!!!

What the heck is up with CCSD? Nevada is already one of the worst, if not the worst, state in the U.S in education? Nevada's best student come from magnet schools. For example, Hyde Park, a magnet school in Las Vegas, has been competing in the MathCounts competition for more than a decade. In the past couple of years, they have been brilliant students from that school have join the Nevada team for the MathCounts Nationals, and they don't do bad at all. This Nevada MathCounts team has been one of the only thing preventing Nevada's education from being looked down upon. Not like a few inches down, but a mile down. So please, recall this decision, and keep Nevada smart.

How is this fair to any of the students in the magnet program? We haves worked our butts off last year and we are working our butts off this year. Now they just want to shut the magnet program. To me this sounds a little biased toward the zoned kids.

Making every student follow the same curriculum doesn't do anything. It doesn't privide a more "fair chance". If anything, it's LESS fair. Doing this isn't helping anyone. How does this benefit students and give them a "fair" chance. YOUR REASONING. IS UNREASONABLE.
