On November 17, 2006, Shelly and Sands/Mar-Zane Materials filed to amend permit IM-1284 from 4 Acres to 185 Acres that will border the Hocking River. We feel a gravel mining operation this large with the probable asphalt operation that will follow is not compatible with the area. The concerns are Flooding, Air Quality, Water Wells, Road Safety, Hocking River Ecosystem, Property Values, Existing Business, and a negative effect on tourism. We urge The Ohio Division of Mineral Resources Management to deny this amendment to the permit.

We already deal with enough flooding in this valley. adding a gravel operation right by the river is just asking for a disaster.

STOP RUINING OUR TOWN. property values are gonna tank if they put an asphalt plant out here.

185 acres is massive. there is no way the roads around here can handle that many trucks. my kids walk to school near there and it scares me.
