Educate the Judges on Child Abuse
The Minister of Justice, The Criminal Court had passed a verdict on four people who raped a 12 year old child after breakign into her house; of having sex with a girl and sentenced them to 8 months banishment. The magistrate had noted according to the media, that: > The girl has reached puberty when this occured > The girl had not screamed > The girl had asked her step mother to keep it secret > The girl had told a sister in law that nothing had happened And that, therefore, the magistrate had reason and grounds to believe that a rape (forced sex) had not occured. WE call upon you to take immediate action to educate the "illiterate" judges, and make them more human and understanding of the pulse of modern society and the rights of children and the need for their protection. President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom had said on September 3, that: â \"Islamic Sharia aims to guarantee the rights of every individual\". And the Courts in Maldives are not doing so. Therefore, we call upon you to put your house in order and to bring your people to order! Maldivians Against Child Abuse and Sexual Abuse leniency of the Maldivian Judges,
