For the past years in highschool, I've been wearing hoodies and jackets of various types. These are what I'm comfortable in. Wearing a tee shirt tucked in, in class is distracting and far away from my comfort zone. I have blank hoodies or other sweatshirts with normal designs, along with certain pants that fit me well. It's expensive to shop for someone of my height and size, it's money that I don't have. My current wardrobe abides to the previous dress code and it's what I have, what I'm comfortable in, and what I can do my work well in.

This new dress code is ridiculous because it changes the school life we have always knob and it will force us to adapt to a whole new school environment

There has never been an issue with what the children were wearing in the past. Why change things now?

Screw this dress code. As if middle and high school years aren’t already difficult enough. I hated wearing this junk in middle school. It’s so uncomfortable and yet they expect kids to pay attention for 8 hours a day wearing it. If they enforce this, I say get rid of all homework.

My granddaughter is a student at EH, and I’ve been impressed with how nicely dressed kids have been. What in the world is the motivation for a switch this late in the summer? As a former single mom who had two slim daughters to clothe according to a strict dress code, I can personally attest to the hardship you are imposing unnecessarily. Parents may have to choose between new dress code compliance and a better computer or tools to help their child learn. I know I had to make those choices. Please, make any changes based upon academic excellence, student morale, or campus safety- leave the already perfectly functional dress code alone.

With 2 children at East Hamilton, this is 2 new wardrobes for my children to be considered appropriate for class. My son has tactile issues, and hates collared shirts. The few times I can talk him into it, he is miserable. From the retail side of this, you now have 2000 students who have to find appropriate clothing all within a month.. can retail stores keep up with the demand?

it’s ridiculous, what are girls supposed to do on the periods if they can’t carry a purse or their backpack around. they don’t have enough time to go to their locker probably in one hallway and then all the way across the school to get to class on time. the students outfits is what let’s them be who they wanna be. they can’t even wear school sweatshirts because they have pockets or a hood.

This does nothing but put students in clothing they are uncomfortable with. We wear clothes we feel ourselves in. Stop saying you care about students when clearly its just the reputation. I'll wear the clothes I PAYED FOR :)

Seems over the top to me; the kids can’t even wear EH sweatshirts or tee shirts they have bought in the past.

My two older children had to wear dress code at Ooltewah schools. It was horrible. Kids knew when the pants and shirts weren’t Polo or any other high dollar brand. The ones that didn’t got singled out. My younger two is and were in East Hamilton. There isn’t as much concern over brand with the children. I believe children should be able to express their style as long as it is appropriate. This isn’t jail, it is school. This is where kids should be able to express themselves.
