Catholic children in Staines have been denied equal opportunities with other children in Spelthorne Borough and those in surrounding areas and thus are seriously disadvantaged.

It has been felt for many years that the school selection criteria based on diocese catchment area is not fair and should be changed. In particular - The Diocese of Westminster, which has been enjoying a strong support from Staines parishioners, ought to give something back in return where it really matters - and press the necessary buttons with the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton to allow children from our diocese to be treated in the same way as their own, and only apply the distance criteria when applying for the Salesians.

My son is in reception class in St Michael's in Ashford. We live in Stanwell. I've heard none of the St Michael's pupils from Stanwell got admitted to St Paul's. Its still 6 more years for him, but the admission criteria make me concerned about my son's future.

My daughter too did not get placements due to the same reasons.
Something needs to change.
