Petition for the Adoption of Castle Law Across Australia

To the Honourable Members of the Parliament of Australia,

We, the undersigned citizens of Australia, call upon the Commonwealth Government and State and Territory Governments to enact uniform Castle Law protections across the nation.

Australians deserve the right to feel safe in their homes and on their property, and to defend themselves and their families without fear of criminal charges when faced with unlawful intrusion, violence, or threats.

Currently, the legal protections afforded to homeowners and residents differ across jurisdictions, leaving many Australians uncertain about their rights in moments of danger. A clear, consistent national Castle Law would:

Affirm the right of Australians to defend themselves, their loved ones, and their property against unlawful entry or attack.

Provide clarity and consistency across states and territories.

Ensure that law-abiding citizens acting in genuine self-defence are protected from unnecessary prosecution.

Furthermore, we believe Australians should be permitted access to non-lethal self-defence tools—such as pepper spray or similar protective devices—within their own homes. These measures provide an alternative to excessive force, allowing citizens to protect themselves and their families responsibly while reducing the risk of serious harm.

We urge Parliament to take immediate action to safeguard the rights and security of Australians by implementing Castle Law nationwide.

Respectfully,

The people that signed this petition

It's absurd that people don't have a clear right to defend themselves and their families against invaders of their home, using whatever force they feel necessary at the time. The responsibility for whatever bad comes of a home invasion should rest entirely with the invader.

People cannot be expected to perfectly judge their actions when someone is invading their home. The current laws give too much protection to home invaders and are too ambiguous

As a gun owner and also the victim of a home invasion, I was more worried about shooting the acumbags in my house for fear of being the one jailed, it's disgusting that defending yourself and your family can land you in jail.

After going through 6.5 years of domestic violence and then having other people come onto my property and steal my 45kg gas bottles, firewood and fuel i want to feel safe and protect what belongs to me.

The law protects the criminals, and punishes the victims.Police are useless.I will protect my family,my home and what I have worked hard for. It is mine, and NOT for others taking.

You should have the right to defend yourself in your home! Its the ONLY safe place for some of us. If you enter anyone's home, uninvited, your intent is malicious.
