I agree we desperately need more PCH beds. It is so sad when we have to send our loved ones away at a time in their lives where they need the love and support of their families more then ever!

As a nurse working at Bethesda Hospital, the need for more nursing home beds is very evident. It's costing our system a lot of money to keep people awaiting placement in acute medicine beds.

It is not right that Steinbach residents have to be sent to facilities 45 minutes away because we do not have room in Steinbach care homes. Time to correct the problem and add more care homes in Steinbach.

The present provincial government has made the situation even worse by combining health regions. It's absurd that our city has to send senior citizens to places like Morris. More beds!

As I pontificated on a November 7th post, I am extremely frustrated at the lack of beds for the elderly in Steinbach! Our mother is also in Vita, 45 minutes from ALL her loved ones. Why is it that Steinbach has not had any significant publicly-funded beds in over 15-20 years!? Annie has been a tax payer for most of her 95 years! My goodness!

My mom (from Steinbach) has been in Vita for 3 weeks. She is receiving wonderful care; the staff there is awesome. However, she constantly wonders why she has to be so far away, and for family, there's no such thing as a quick drop-in. Her youngest sibling is 80; it's tough for them to go to visit her at that distance.

My Dad got moved to Morris and Mom is in Stienbach, our Government destroyed my parents 70 year marriage. Both Mom and Dad are lucid and frustrated that they now live apart.

We are in that exact situation. There is no room for Garry's mother in Steinbach. She is in a community away from her family, which makes it difficult to spend time with her.
