We need more care homes so we can stay in the same community we live in not far away where spouce and other family members have to drive miles to visit. Don't seperate our long time marriage couples in such a way. It's enough one has to be in nursing home and other one is still independant. These people have set a beautiful example to our country of what marriage is all about . so do them the honour they deserve of keeping them together instead of forcing them into a sad seperation

It is so important that we support our Elders physically, mentally and spiritually as they age. They deserve it! They deserve to have loved ones near. They deserve to have an environment where they can be independent yet supported with health and safety. When they are dealing with pain, limitations physically and mentally and even the loss of social status the only thing left is relationships. A daughter or son close by to reminisce with or the touch of a grandchilds hand can do more for them then any drug, A proper facility in Steinbach is a necessity that is long over due.

Steinbach is very proud about the fact that our community has grown tremendously over the years. I however think it's ridiculous that our seniors can't continue to live in the town they call home due to lack of personal care homes. Many families are suffering with this and are having to send their loved ones all over manitoba to personal care homes that are far and inconvenient for all especially the elders. They need to be a near family and near their familiarities. We need to address this and plan for the near and future seniors of Steinbach. With how much the community has already grown we will have an abundance of seniors needing placement in our community. Please consider this petition and allow us to make it possible to have more personal care home facilities available.

75% of our elders in PCH homes have dementia. In order to stay "alive inside" they need regular visits from people they have an emotional connection to and who also know their history. These visits help build a bridge from the past to the present, and greatly improve the quality of their lives. Let's make it possible for them to stay in the communities they have helped build!! I believe we have not had any additional LongTerm Care beds added since 1984. Our city has grown tremendously since then. It is not right that our Seniors have to live away from friends, family and their community when they are aging and have so many losses already. It is long overdue to add more long term beds in our city. We are the only voice our seniors have.

There are so many aging seniors. I work at the hospital and our acute care beds are full of people awaiting placement in PCH.
