When signing this petition you are agreeing that the course entitled, Career Prep, at Lakeview High School should be an optional class. Your reasons behind this choice maybe different, but never the less our coming together as students and parents will help us accomplish our goal of removing the requirement on this course. Remember every individual counts!
The feedback I have received regarding the required Career Prep course highlights a clear consensus among our community members. I am currently organizing these testimonies to present them formally to the school administration. We remain focused on our goal of making this curriculum an optional choice for all students.

I just moved into the Battle Creek area and choose to live in the Lakeview District, but if this class is mandatory I will not be enrolling my high schooler.
This is a topic that should be taugh within the home.

If you can opt out of health because your parents don't want you taking it then why shouldn't you be able to opt out of this class?

This class shouldn't be mandatory because it takes up space in students schedules where they could be putting classes that will be important to their future. The schedule is already tight enough since switching to trimesters. Electives are still important.

These issues should be taught at home and is not the business of the schools. Please focus on quality academic preparation as you have built your good reputation in the past on. Thank you.

This course being mandated is a direct violation of various rights and belief's. This is not state mandated. As broke as the school claims to be, the money could be spent more widely.

Write Senator Nofs and Representative Bizon. I have been in contact with both offices and both have listed some concerns about this class.

I have always parented my children on the foundations of the Bible and God's word. I do not feel it is any public schools responsibility to instill their agenda on them. They are caring and tolerant individuals who have many diverse friends. I also strongly oppose the inclusion of the subject matter to the 9th grade health class.
