CARE ALERT for Head and Neck Cancer Survivors

This patients deserve much better care for greater outcomes

As a survivor, I am certainly in favor of changes in the healthcare industry to cover needed expenses as a result of treatment.

I agree 100% that this is medically necessary care!

Head and neck cancer survivors deserve all the therapies they need to live a normal life.

As a Head and Neck survivor of 16 years I have had to personally pay for the treatments that the insurance company deemed 'not covered.' Please help to get the insurance companies understand how financially burdensome this is to patients.

As a retired health care provider, I have seen the devastating effects of head and neck cancer. It has to be one of the worst cancers at impacting quality of life. Not only affecting ability to eat, but also physical appearance. Treatment is difficult. Insurance companies are unfairly denying patients necessary treatments. Their ability to dictate treatment decisions is wrong.

I have witnessed survivors who have suffered undue social, health, and economic damage as a result of EXCLUSION. Yes, it is time to correct this discrimination.

Patients with lymphedema in their arms and legs can have it covered so should those with Head and neck cancer. Seems this area is serious if not more so than other portions of the body.

As an 18 year survivor of Head and Neck Cancer I and many of my fellow survivors have suffered undue economic damage as a result of EXCLUSION "because it's dental and not medical" or "it is not a relative side effect to the treatment" It has cost me tens of thousands of dollars and it is time to STOP!

Lymphedema therapy is beneficial in preventing fibrosis and improving quality of life after radiation therapy!!! It’s not “an extra”… it’s a necessity for survivors to maintain their quality of life… it should be covered.

This is something that is very important and often misunderstood by patients who are simply ignorant of what they still don't know. . . It appears that the insurance business hasn't been presented with a proper financial plan. Perhaps they don't understand that they're missing out.

Much needed coverage

THIS IS REAL - BETTER INSURANCE IS NEEDED

I am a CLT. I see many head and neck cancer patients. I feel all head and neck cancer patients need to see a CLT for the proper education about side effects from H/N treatment. CDT, is beneficial to these patients. Compression garments are usually required and at times not covered along with head and neck compression pump. The Lymphedema Treatment Act as been passed recently and will help patients receive coverage for compression garments next year. Research shows that the Head and Neck advanced compression pump is beneficial and an added home management tool for this population. Insurance needs to understand in the long run CDT, and the compression pump would be more cost effective than recurrent hospitalization for infection etc.

Vital for cancer patients to have enhanced Medicare coverage!

Head and Neck cancer survivors deserve the Flexitouch as much (if not more) than ANY other location of swelling/edema!!!!!!!

Head and neck garments are essential for patients that are going through a diagnosis of head/neck lymphedema.
