Low income families like us will go without in order to buy uniform. Anything that will help us limit the cost will quite literally put more food on our table.

South Wales, UK. Uniform prices are extortionate and should definitely be capped. Schools are putting pupils appearance above their schooling needs and this most definitely should be stopped

I am a single parent of 3 boys and have to buy my secondary school sons uniform where everything has to have a logo on even pe kits have to be the right ones from trutex only. Outwood Ormesby school and then I have 2 Primary boys who also have full uniform but not logo on only jumper. I had to get a loan to buy these.

Should have offered a patch to sew on own trousers.much cheaper. Well u won't be buying logo trousers .can't even see the patch when worn with blazer.

My daughter will wear the trousers she has always worn (going into y11) with no complaint. She doesn't need a logo and I'm not paying £10 for the luxury of having one on the waistband.

why sound schools have the right to say what clothes our kids wear there teach them not own them .. are tje schools gunna pay for every kid to wear them its abuse if u ask me

Why do parents of pupils goin back in year 11 have to fork out money for expensive uniforms. I'm a single parent and already have to pay for dinners and school bus. Disgusting.

I'd go further and say schools may NOT specify where uniforms may be bought and only that they fit criteria of colour and style. What is wrong with a sewn on patch?
Uniforms do not, and never have, enable learning.

I agree to school uniforms but a one size fits all attitude is never going to work. The logo should be on the school blazer only. It's pointless and unnecessary to be on skirts and trousers, and to be purchased from one shop only, who will benefit from the sales? Sell the logos from the school office and let parent's have a choice of where to purchase uniforms. As for an orange Nike pe top...... why?

A tiny logo on a piece of clothing has no impact on a child's ability to learn. For a school to insist on it is ridiculous, faux-elitist and shameful.

I've just had to pay £20 for a grey school jumper (because it *has* to have one tiny burgundy line round the neck). And £40 for a blazer because you can't buy the badge to sew it on yourself....
This is at least 2-3 times more than supermarkets sell these items.
The government needs to step in to ensure uniforms can be bought from anywhere and stop school extorting money out of parents (let's face it this is what's happening - either we pay up or our kids get excluded.....)
It's a disgrace!
I've not even started on the PE kit yet ☹️

Why not get the logo put on the clothes the parents buy.
Only need to make sure the same colours are defined for the uniform not the quality.

Logos on skirts,trousers and in-school PE kits are just too expensive and unnecessary. Parents just cannot afford to pay those sort of prices when acceptable alternatives are less than a third of the cost.
