Canyon Oaks members are proud of our club. So many of the members have volunteered their services improving the course and clubhouse over the years and we feel that we want to maintain that excellence. But you seem to imply that it takes 80% of our normal dues to do this. I, along with many others, would like to see the financial records that document that now that you have furloughed most of your employees.

I feel American golf should suspend dews until they reopen and give a credit to those who paid a full year I December for the amount of time course is closed.

Please take a minute to consider yourself as a member. Read the letter you sent to your members. I think you can see why we have a negative position. If you don't see it, I find it disappointing how you handle business.

We live in Chico during the winter and yet for 6 years of membership, we have been required to pay the full membership year round.
This has been difficult for us as we are retired and fixed income. Your stance on dues during this difficult time is not what we would expect. Please consider the members because we make the business viable.

Without detailing how 80% of dues is a necessary figure it seems an imprudent given how we all are making sacrifices in this unsettling times. Given the fact the course is closed to play, that only a skeleton maintained crew remains and all other employees furloughed where does my 80% go? Businesses close, employees on welfare and American Golf has the gall to ask us to pay 80% of our dues for what?????

Any business depends on its "goodwill" to be viable in good times let alone bad times. Billing for range balls and yearly cart dues when the course is closed is the antithesis of generating "goodwill." In fact, it is an act of "bad faith" towards your members. I hope you hear and recognize that the discontent expressed on this matter is real.
I look forward to a change in your position and a reasonable monthly charge for ongoing operations. You should not lose sight of the willingness of most members to pay some percentage of the monthly fee for not playing golf on the course. We could refuse to pay a penny next month and terminate our membership.

On board with terminating membership if American golf does not reconsider its policy

The tone and content of the letter from a GC is so thoughtless and self-serving that it is difficult to understand how they could even send that out to membership. we do understand that these are difficult times, but they seem to have entirely missed the part of that that applies to the rest of the world. hopefully AGC will come to their senses and present a better method of dealing with this problem.

I'm a high handicap player and use the club about twice a week or less. I pay a full membership fee basically to socialize with my friends. I like the golf course and the great employees but I would be happy to join my friends at another course if pushed to do that if necessary.
Be careful what you demand. You may not like the result.

Your focus on getting the dues paid, during these unprecedented times, is mis-guided. I would encourage you to look at what others in the golf industry, the banks, airlines, hotels, and other businesses are doing. They are offering refunds, deferral of payments, and working with customers. They have made a choice to care for their customers and put them first. From the message in your email, it seems that you and American Golf have made a different choice.

If things had been handled differently, would been happy to continue paying my dues, like keeping employees paid. As it I will probably leave the club

I concur with Mr. Bohannon's comments. I want to support the club, but at a reasonable rate. Also, I received my monthly bill for range and cart/trail for March. It was not prorated. The course was closed on March 20 and neither the range nor cart/trail service was available as of that date. That's 35% of the month where these services were not available and should not be billed.

Step up. This is not a corporate issue where you keep your jobs and salaries. Many of us are retired and on a fixed income. Golf is a game, not our livelihood.

Sounds like AGC is trying to make a profit during this time at the expense of its members and employees. Not right!
